  1. I'm sorry to hear bout this....I on the other hand can relate :( as of sept I've been banded for 2 years. I am currently back to my weight I was on surgery day. I was going along slowly and thought this is ok I don't want to lose to fast. Then I was too tight (due to Dr) so went in got loosened back to where I was, then nothing was the same. Couldn't eat anything good for me.

My Dr moved out of Houston to another country. New Dr said "the lap bands not for everyone!" I was discouraged and fed up with trying. Months later as of last month I went to a new dr here in Katy. He took all solution out of my band and sent me in for an upper GI. He said within minutes "sounds like your band slipped". So now here I sit. No Fluid in band, back to 248lbs and feel like I failed. Hoping this new Dr can help. Don't give up like I did, if you want my drs name and number just message me. It was almost 300$ to see him, to me worth it cause I no longer don't feel good and don't know why.

  2. With Water, it goes down as long as I dont try and gulp it down, same with broth.

Soup I was talking about was heavy cream (chowder type) It did have pot and chicken in it. I ended up blending it up so I could eat it.

I can chew up my Gummy Vitamins and have no issues lol.

I drink Muscle milk and it goes down with no problem.

Its definitly just hard, never had it this tight before, its like learning all over again. I am going to just take it easy and give it time. Thank you Lisa

Theresa, so when you say 6 days out and it's hard to get Soup down, is this broth, or cream soup?

are there any chuncks in it?

are there things like potatoes or white rice in it.

I often have hard time with the above things, so I wouldn't worry too much if that's it

    even thick cream Soups

if you are talking broth I'd worry

what about protien shake, is that still hard?

are you spitting up at all, reflux at night anything like that?

can you drink Water fine with no problem

    are you getting enough Protein?

if the above is not / or is happening then I would be worried.

the the above is ok then just take it easy, and wait another week even.

if you start spitting up, not able to drink water, having reflux at night go tot he dr.

and if you want a test also, try clear fluids again for like a day and see if that helps, sometimes the swelling can take time, sometimes it gets irritated and clear fluids can help letting the swelling go down.

but ultimately you should be able to eat solids, so if you can't at some point in the next couple weeks you should consider going in.

    that's my thought anyway

  3. Yes I would love to be buddies with you....Would you like to swap numbers?

Okay so I am on my 6th ay with my fill and it is hard to eat Soup, it goes down sloooowwwwlllyyyy I almost feel as if it is going to get stuck.

Question: should I give it acouple more days or should I go get some out?

Theresa maybe we can help each other and keep each other motivated to get down to our goals. I did read somewhere that I should substitute a Protein shake in everyday for a meal to help with keeping me full. I am also starting off with 30 minutes of treadmill to get my heart rate up.

  4. Ebeeze, no worries my friend I am right there with you. My 1 yr. anniversary was Sept 29. I have only lost 20lbs in my year. I am blaming myself, I do not exercise nearly enough.

I went in to see my Dr on the 29th and he gave me another fill. I am now at 7cc in my 10cc band. I am so tight now. Hoping I am not to tight. I am going to figure out what I have been doing wrong and fix it. I have always drank my Water and count calories and Protein. But because of my no weightloss issue I cant help but feel as if I am doing something wrong. This is an everyday struggle and I feel as if I have failed everyday when I see the scale.

I am truly happy for all of you who have hit goal or are close to it. I hope to be posting a huge loss on my next anniversary.

If any of you have tips or tricks you would like to share, I definitley am willing to try them.

  5. Well in a year I've lost 30 lbs but inches is another story. The weight not coming off is my fault. I havnt stuck to exercising. My dr was Dr Spivak. He has just recently closed his office to except a position in a different country. The first month was slow fir ne but then again this whole process has. You HAVE to stay dedicated to the band and know it's not going to do the work for you it's only a tool.

  6. Good Morning Everyone,

I know I have been gone acouple weeks....Happy Be-Lated Thanksgiving to everyone.

I had my second fill on Nov. 16th. I am only down a few ounces as of today. I am not complaining. I still dont feel a restriction really. Had two stuck instances over the last couple weeks...both times with potatoe...so Im not going to go there again. My husband is home from Brazil (thats why Ive been gone). So my Thanksgiving went well....my sister and I cooked. I made sure to eat my turkey first then had ham and alittle bit of sweet potatoe and mash. No bread for me (which use to be a big deal to me) and I had one slice of pumpkin pie later in the day. My mother last saw me the day I came home from surgery so when she walked in the house she smiled really big and told me I looked great....that made my holiday better....made me not want to go over board.

I am going to try and get back into my treadmill today....hose full of family for a week has gotten me off track.

LisaA....None of us are perfect....you tried your best and thats all we can expect from ourselves. As long as you had a great Holiday and your not making excuses for yourself then I believe you will be fine....good luck to getting back on track B)

MissJoany....my question is, if they remove your port how do they go in to fill the band?

Rambunctious....I totally agree with you...i ate healthy also before surgery but now the splurges are not the same. My husband being home has caught me off guard lol...i was going to grab my baked cheetos the other night and he looked at me and said REALLY....i was like what lol its 34 of these for a serving, he made me put them back and grab a Protein bar lol.....im glad he is the strong one cause I SOOOO wanted my cheetos.

I wont stay gone as long this time I promise....I hope you are all having a great Tuesday.....everyone stay warm :D

  7. Thanks Maxi....on liquids till tomorrow. I only lost 3lbs since my first fill on Oct. 26. And the 3 lbs was all in the first week. this past 2 weeks I stayed at 231....when I went in yesterday I had actually gained 2 of that back. It is back off today so I knew it was just from being on my dot (period). I hope this fill last awhile too. I will keep you updated.

  8. hard2ctrl: How did your fill go? How are you feeling?

foxracing: My dr put 3cc's in on my first fill...tomorrow morning I go in to get my second fill. How are you feeling since your fill?

    where is everyone...

I went on a camping trip this weekend, did really good on my choices when it came to food....but today I was actually up 2 lbs. So I think i need to control my portions since im choosing Protein first and not eating the potatoes and bread stuff. I will check in tomorrow...hope everyone else comes back to keep us updated.

  9. I got another fill today and I think I've hit the sweet spot, based on my liquid lunch. It took very little to fill up and this is the first time that has happened to me. I have liquids for two days then back to solids. I will let you know how it goes then.

YAY....I wish the best of luck to ya....I go in tomorrow for my second fill. Right now I have been stuck at the same weight going on two weeks. So I will let you know as well....good luck Ocean

  10. Hi guys....I just completed registration forms for the hospital I will be going to and my seminar is December 14th. I am so excited, as I have been heavy my entire life. My husband at first, when I told him I was going to do this, was okay with it...Now that I have been on the phone with our insurance and the hospital he is starting to get annoyed. He called from work tonight and I told him I was looking at before and after pictures of people that had been banded and he said I was "obsessed" and he was tired of the word LAP-BAND® already. This wouldnt bother me, but I am so supportive of all of the things that he does. He is an avid hunter and spends most of his time in the woods or watching outdoor television. As this is not my cup of tea, I have learned everything I can about his sport and am even going hunting with him this year. I am completely crushed. How can he be soooo insensitive? :)

Awww....that breaks my heart . Personally sounds like he is just being an A**. But as we learn, unless he is always this way, there is a reason he is acting this way now. Maybe yall could sit down and have a heart to heart. Let him know this is going to be a part of your life now. Maybe he is scared...if you lose the weight if youll be the same person. I really wish the best of luck with him.

  11. Good evening everyone...I made my appointment today for Tuesday next week. I will get another fill then too. Im still just staying at the same weight.

Cnewstine: I only got 3cc's my first fill so half your band being filled is good. You might not need to go back before 8 weeks. Good luck.

I dont have any restrictions with food either. My Dr. says the whole point of getting this surgery is to not be on a diet. it is to restict you from over eating which is what expands your stomach. Just drink your Water and put Protein first.

  12. :crying: Well hello my ladies.....I was banded sept 29th one fill on Oct 26th. lost almost 18 lbs and it has stopped. I go back next week to Doc. I too can eat alot if i wanted. I am trying really hard to not eat crap. I started the couch to 5K today. whoohoo lets see if exercising will see any difference in the scale. I am right here with all yall....lets stick together!!

  13. Thank you all for the concern of an hour on the treadmill. Let me explain why I said an hour....before surgery I was already exercising. one hour at my target heart rate on the treadmill for 4-5 times a week. I got off track about 3 weeks before surgery. I am going to follow the couch to 5K to get back into my routine and this way it gives me something to progress with. I really do appreciate yall for looking out for me....yall are awesome :) Thank you

  14. So I got my second fill this past Saturday. I am not at 5cc's. I went into the visit thinking this thing is not working for me, and stood on the scale to find out I lost 16.5 lbs since surgery. Not major, but a start, so it is working. I noticed that I feel fuller quicker since the fill on Saturday, so hopefully it will seem a little more productive in the weeks to come. When the inches come off, it will be amazing! Planning a vacation (cruise) for next December...I wanna be smaller for this trip...much smaller. I've been putting off the trip until I lose wieght and now that I have been banded, I am looking forward to going.

I will be making my appointment for next week to go back in. I feel the same way right now cause i dont feel the restriction. I hope this feel could be your sweet spot....I cant wait to hear more from you in acouple weeks when we see a huge drop in your number....now you have me excited to go in and get my second fill. :)

We are also planning a cruise....we are planning for July to go with another couple. Best of luck to you!
