Dr. Benjamin Hoxworth - Very Professional and Very Competent
beernut replied to aimtowin's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Hoxworth did my surgery back in February and I'm a big fan! I love that he's so calm because I figure he'll stay calm and collected in the OR. He only did the first few fills and now they've switched to using a Lap Band Clinic, a PA and a nurse, who come in on Fridays to do fills. I really like the PA although I've forgotten his name, lol! -
I'm doing pretty well, overall. I'm feel pretty good restriction wise and work out at least 4 times a week. I'll be joining the YMCA soon because I can take the kids there w/ me (they have childcare) thus making it easier to actually exercise. My eating is ok, not great but I'm comfortable with how that's going. I tend to want to snack more than eat real meals and that's probably something I'm always going to battle with. This morning I officially went from being obese to just fat so I'm all kind of happy about that! :smile2:

Knowing what you know now would you....

So far, at almost 9 months in, I would totally get it again. I've had no problems and pretty quick weight loss. Sorry your loss has been so much slower. I do know that the band doesn't work well for everyone and that some people switch to gastric bypass or the sleeve. -
Work brought in lunch....UGHHH

That would have been a healthy choice for anyone so don't get too upset. I go and get Mexican w/ my 4 yr old (who's nuts about cruncy shelled tacos) once a week and eat one taco. It's yummy and not too bad of an indulgence so I feel comfortable doing it. Good job on not going for the chips!! -
is anyone noticeing your weight loss?
beernut replied to Elliottsmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost almost 70 and am getting more double takes from neighbors now, lol! To be fair, the moms at my dd's preschool started noticing around 30lbs but they probably felt more comfortable saying something than neighbors I don't talk to very often. We have a neighborhood pool and I figure that by next summer, when I hope to be close to goal, the difference will be quite noticeable. -
I can eat one, but I have to be very careful. I once grabbed a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger to go, ate it too quickly, and spent the next 20 minutes stuck in traffic sliming into the Wendy's bag. Wendy's bags, as I discovered, aren't good at containing slime. Blech!

What will you do with you "fat" clothes
beernut replied to wanna.b.healthy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I donated all of mine to the Vietnam Vets. You just call to schedule a pick-up and then leave the stuff in bags or boxes down by the curb or on your porch. Easy peasy! I got donated all of my 22 and 20's, leaving me w/ only 18's in the closet. Now I'm down to size 16 and had to buy two pairs of pants and a new bra. If my weight doesn't shift down soon, I'll need to buy at least one more pair of pants because two just isn't going to cut it! -
So far, it's been totally worth it. The nicest thing for me is the fact that I'm not thinking about food ALL THE TIME. I'm sure I think about it more than the average person, but it's not such an all consuming fixation anymore.
