  1. I just recently switched up my workout! I have been at a plateau for months now! I joined curves, and do zumba! I am noticing the scale move again. Most important is measuring. I lost 8.5 inches last month!! Sometimes I think the scale has to catch up, since we are building muscle!

My husband does P90x and that is suppose to be incredible! He is in shape, but after his workout he sweats like crazy! If you like tapes check out P90X or insanity, I want to, but I am just not strong enough to do them yet!

  2. I think after a year I am finally at my restriction!!! I got a fill last Monday and I have to be very very careful with chicken! I also cannot eat raw carrots or rice!!! I love sushi, but can only eat the rice if I chew chew chew it!!!! My hubby cooks chicken and he shreds it between two forks so I can eat it that way!!! I am finally realizing what it means to take your time with eating and how important it is to feel this restriction thing!!! I am so HAPPY, I FINALLY have the restriction, it has been a LONG year!!!

  3. Hi everyone!! Just wanted to see how everyone is doing after a year!!! It has been a year of highs and lows for me! I know now that exercise has to be a daily part of my life because I have the slowest metabolism in the world. I also realized that I cannot lose if I drink any alcohol!!! I maintained my weight loss when I exercised but it seemed when the weekends came I couldn't loose!!! DUH!!! Well since I cut that out and changed my exercise a little (I stopped the YMCA and joined curves and do zumba) I am losing again! It's slow but I am doing it!

I hope everyone else is doing well, good luck!

  4. Thanks so much for starting this thread!!! I too have hypothyroidism and I take synthyroid 100mcg daily. I have been diagnosed for 6 years and when I went into the hospital with a TSH of 60! It has not been easy!! I also got banded in March my date was the 28th, 2011 and the weight is coming of so slow! I thought it would have come off faster, but it hasn't! I do the same thing you do, exercise eat right etc!! I did slow down on exercise over the holidays and put back on 4 lbs!!!! I have gone from a size 18 to a size 12 so I am looking forward to 2012 and losing a few more sizes with lots of hard work!!!

  5. OMG, I was also in a car accident almost one month to the day after my surgery! I was under lots of stress and had nothing in my band but it was extremely tight. My primary care physician gave me .25mg of xanax and it really relaxed me, I didn't realize it until much later but I could eat anything!!!!

I recently came under more stress and my band became super tight again, now I meditate and it does help!!!

    Good luck,

    Joleen

  6. I am newly banded, and have never experienced slippage but I was involved in a motor vehicle accident and I was concerned with slippage so my doctor told me what to look out for. He didn't mention any "popping" sensation. I do get that sometimes but think it's gas. He said the symptoms are nausea, and vomiting primarily!

You are smart to call them anyway!!!

    Good luck!

  7. NJGirl, yep you are right, we all do have distorted views of our bodies from time to time...lol I have a mental picture in my head of the women that have so much confidence they where anything, even things they shouldn't!!!! I am going to start telling myself "good things"

Ms, I wonder how I let myself get that big also!!! I did have medical reasons, but come on!!! I keep thinking I wasted most of my 30's and 40's on being over weight and that is sad. I have to also learn how to get over that and live in the moment and move forward!!!!

We will do it and keep moving forward!!! I keep seeing all the pictures of the people that did it and that motivates me!!!

  8. I can certainly increase the excersice but running several miles on a treadmill at 280 pounds is just not doable. I see the MD & nutritionsit this friday so will see what they suggest.

Are you monitoring your food and exercise with a program, such as myfitnesspal. I have been using it, and it keeps me honest. and it breaks down my carbs, Proteins and fats. I also agree with what the above people said mix up your exercise and exercise everyday even if its a 30 minute walk! I have a metabolism that works in super slow motion!!! I know how hard it is!!! I am 47 and have abused my body most of my life. If I eat over 1300 calories a week and don't exercise I don't loose!!!!

    Good luck!

  9. I have lost a little over 40 lbs now and I can see things changing, BOY I think I am going to need a lot of work done when I lose 100 lbs! How is every dealing with the changes their body is going through!!!

I know I should be happy so far and 43 pounds is a lot but when I see my profile I feel I look like Alfred Hitchcock or I have a barrel around my belly. I am just so disgusted!! I feel bloated, ugh. I try and try to get over this feeling but I can't!!! I will continue to work out and eat right but I am waiting for the day I am finally comfortable in my own skin! I think I am going back into therapy!!! I have had a whole life of eating problems and it seems the more I focus on my weight the more problems come to light!

I want to know if anyone else feels this way and how they stop these negative feelings? Is it normal to feel bigger at a size 14 then you did at an 18????

    Good luck to everyone!!!

  10. Thank, so much for asking this question!!! I am having the same problem with my "mons" area!!! I will definitely ask the ps for a lift up in that area when they give me my Tummy Tuck. I am only down 42 lbs. with about 58 to go but I can all ready see the yucky saggy skin, UGH. I know all the exercise in the world won't help and I am so glad I have this board. The last thing I won't to do is ask my personal trainer is if there is an exercise for this!!!! LOL

Thanks and good luck to everyone!!!

  11. I was losing really good at first. I was 212 when I went for my post op on 6/24 and I have weighed since only to discover that I have not lost another pound! I have been eating perfect and can't figure out what my deal is. Maybe I'm just ready for my first fill!

I have had 2 fills about six weeks apart first fill was 1 cc 2nd was 2 cc, I feel satisfied now! I know if anything I should probably eat more through the week. I eat better on the weekends. I just read skinny b***h and I am thinking about going with a more vegan diet. This book is about how pesticides, hormones and artificial flavorings in foods make us fat. I am starting to believe that this book makes some sense. I think I am going to try it and see what happens. I noticed when I was eating just the juices I was feeling better and had more energy!!

    we will see!

  12. Had my 4th fill yesterday and now I am up to 10 1/2 cc's but still no difference. My Dr. said I should only have to go to 11 but he has a patient at 13 and now they have to see whats going on with hers. My band only hold 14 . So frustrated : (

So sorry to hear you are frustrated. I know your frustration!! I am also frustrated at times. I am doing everything right. eating the right foods, evercising...blah blah blah and the weight isn't coming off like everyone elses!!! I should be (if I lost 2-3 lbs wk) down 20 lbs. less then what I am now!!! Just hang in there.

I know I have a s l o w metabolism. I am going to try and detoxify and eat whole foods!!! We shall see!!!

    Good luck!

  14. How many more are close to the 100's? I have been 200.5 t0 202 for 2 weeks now and all the exercise I do won't budge the scale. I am eating perfect. Hmmmf. I know my metabolism is slow as a snail but come on!!! I have only lost 17 lbs. since surgery so this has been a slow progress for me. When I figured it out in my head I thought I would lose 2-3 lbs a week if I did everything right. Is anyone else feeling satisified, eating right and exercising and still not losing??? I got this surgery because I used to eat about 1700 cal a day and still couldn't lose so I thought this would help!!!!! It's not!!!! UGH. I am going to get a trainer at the gym if it doesn't start coming off quicker!!

    Any input would be helpful!!!

  15. Didn't read anyone else's post just the topic of discussion!!! My guilty pleasure is losing weight!!!! I am a wound care nurse and I have taken care of too many people with health issues think they can have just one guilty pleasure so I enjoy exercise and losing weight now!!! I love yogurt. I have always been a healthy eater, just got lazy after menopause! My MD and dietician also said from the start of this that if you loved ice cream and shakes (guilty pleasures) to be careful they could go right through!!!

Not trying to be negative this thread just surprised me!!!!

  16. Hi all,

Congrats to everyone who is on their journey!!

I have been off the boards for a while mostly because of lots of stress and a busy life!!! My weight loss has been s l o w! I even gained 3 lbs at one time! This was with eating 1,000 calories a day. I just didn't exercise that week!!! I can relate to the person that sees their weight change daily! I need to be more motivated to exercise, but at this time I am hoping I have the right amount of Fluid in my band. I went to the MD two weeks ago for a fill, he put 2 cc's in it, for a total of 3 cc's. I felt fine for the first week but this second week has been filled with tons of stress. I have a sick cat (sorry Marcy for your loss I can relate now), we are having major family issues, and work is crazy). I am also getting over a cold and my sinus' are acting up. So I feel real tight!!! I also got stuck last Thursday!

I am not feeling really hungry, but when the stress level comes down I do eat and it goes down fine (the lap band approved foods) I feel if I go to my surgeon he isn't going to listen to me and he is just going to take out fluid!!! I might cancel the appt. today and get papaya enzyeme and pineapple juice to see if that helps.

The good news is I am losing again!!!!

  17. Drink fluids, taking slow sips. Would you happen to be @ that time of month as well?

To answer your question" yes stress can cause the band to be fickle and tighten. Some people report a cold or being under the weather causes their band to tighten as well.

Tis there anyway to lower your stress level? Deep breathing, meditation, Adavan?

Hope you get through this soon

Thanks for your reply!!! I no longer have my period I have had a hysterectomy ;0 I think it might be related to not feeling well and stress because it seems to be off and on. I don't feel super tight all the time!!! I researched since i have written this and I am going to try papaya enzyeme and pineapple!

I asked my surgeon if I could have some Xanax similiar to Ativan. I was involved in a rollover accident one month after my surgery and I took xanax I not only was relax but I had zero restriction!!!! I also never got stuck!!! I didn't take much! I thought that had something to do with it, but my lapband surgeon won't prescribe it and my MD is out of the country!!!

I am going to try to keep mediation, but when the stress level goes up it is tough to deal with it and I don't see it going away anytime soon!
