    Slow Losers - Unite!

There is an Atkins bar that's 150 calories and tastes pretty much like a snickers. It's low fat and low carb. I sometimes take one to work when I know I won't be able to have time for lunch. Not that I am one to give any advice. I haven't lost an ounce in 2 months.

    December Bandsters in March!

Boy if you find out the answer to that question, you'll be helping all of us! I lost 20 lbs on the 4 weeks of liquids and that ended 1-29. Since then I have only lost 2 lbs. I am having trouble keeping off the 22 lbs I lost. I am supposed to get another fill on 4-9 but that's a scary thought since my food gets stuck regularly.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

It just goes to show us how our family life played a huge part in our food issues.

    December Bandsters in March!

I upped my calories and gained 2 lbs. I am wondering if I ate something salty. I didn't deserve to gain those 2 lbs. I ate healthy all weekend.
  5. I am beginning to think I should make a bunch at once to last a few days. Usually the only time I get them in is if I have one of those WW low carb or lean cusine meals There is also a south Beach one with chicken and brocolli that I like. Everyone says the frozen meals have too much salt, so I have been cooking for my self. I live alone so if I make something, I can't seem to make only a little bit.. I have to eat it several days. I bought some chicken and made fajitas with chicken bell peppers and onion. No tortilla. I guess the bell peppers could be considered a vegetable. But when I made meat loaf out of ground turkey, I didn't feel like cooking vegetables. I know it's easier for people with families that have regular meals to make for them, but there must be other single people like me, that really aren't into preparing menus for themself. Thank you!

Jeri, I am happy for you that you got some new clothes. I can't wait to lose enough to go shopping. I hope that's soon. Since I have only lost 22, all my tops still fit just fine. I had some pants that I bought that immediately became too small, so I can wear those now. I can't wait to not shop in the plus size anymore!!!

Congratulations Scarlett! I have heard of people having that problem and I have no idea why. When I was on liquids, I had the opposite problem. I couldn't go at all and when I finally did, I realized I should have taken something sooner. After that I started adding benefiber to my water. I still have to do that.

    December Bandsters in March!

Thanks for posting this. I always exercise in the morning. I will go later in the day on my days off. Something has to change! If changing the time of day that I exercise makes a difference, I can sure do that. I never eat carbs after 3 pm though. I try not to eat too many before that time too. My dr. really stresses protein. I hope I see that $4 booklet at the store. I would like to buy it too. thanks again:biggrin1: Denise

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I guess it averages out to that, but I lost it during the liquid stage. It makes me want to go back to liquids. I don't eat carbs, I drink over 64 oz of water, I count calories so I don't know why the scale won't move. I am thinking it's a possibility that I got really sick, went on antibiotics, was well for 2 weeks and then caught the same thing over. I am back on antibiotics and only have 3 more days of them left. They make my mouth and food taste like metal.

    December Bandsters in March!

I have only lost 2 lbs since I moved off liquids, for a total of 22 lbs since 12-29. I don't know what I am doing wrong. A lot of people have told me though they didn't lose well with ony one fill. I can't get my 2nd fill until 4-9. I was supposed to get it the last week in March, but dr. decided to go away for spring break. I am so sick of not seeing the scale move. I stopped weighing often because it's so discouraging. But then when I do weigh, it's the same. Can anyone give me a sample of what they eat for a day so I can see how I am eating wrong. I don't think I am, because I am following the banster rules, other than I don't always get veggies in. I don't eat many carbs at all, just the ones that are in a sauce over the chicken, etc. And I drink way over 64 oz of Water per day and exercise. It could be my age. The nurse told me older people lose slower, but this is ridiculous. I am 54. I need help!!:help: thank you!
  11. Oregondaisy

How do you get your veggies in?

If anyone thinks this needs to be in the food section, I don't know how to move it. I probably should have posted it there but I forgot about it.

:faint:Where is the before and after page. I went to the main lapband talk page and they had FAQ and food, etc. Didn't see where to go for pictures. I am staying the same. I am still at 22 lbs lost and nothing lost since my first fill.:faint::think

I am still plugging along staying the same. I haven't lost anything since I got my fill which was a month ago. My next fill was moved to 4-9, because the dr decided to take spring break off from work. I haven't gained anything so I am happy about that, but it's a struggle. I was sick and couldn't exercise but I am going back to exercising so maybe that will help me drop one or two pounds.

That's a very good post, katy. I completely agree with no bread. I probably could eat it, because I have only had one fill, but I haven't even tried it. I know one thing for sure-if I eat carbs, I crave carbs. Bread just isn't worth it to go back to those cravings again. I got bad news today. My dr. has decided to take spring break off, so my second fill is now posponed until the middle of April. I am looking forward to having the restriction people talk about. I hope the 2nd fill helps because I am really tired of being good, and still not losing. I am eating healthy foods, but I want to be full on a small portion.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Welcome! Don't feel out of place just because you are 64. You are dealing with the same issues as the rest of us. It's harder to lose over the age of 50. Those 30 year olds on some of the other threads are losing by leaps and bounds and it gets depressing. I am happy for them, but it still gets me discouraged. We are all in our 50's and 60's. Welcome!

One thing that I found for some reason to feel more like a treat during this stage was egg flower soup. I got really tired of all the creamy soups I could buy in the store, so I went to a Chinese restaraunt and got a large egg flower soup. I kept what I didn't eat in the fridge and it lasted about 3 days. My doctor told me if it had anything in it besides the broth and the egg, like peas, to spit them out. You can have drinkable yogurt too. They come in a lot of flavors and taste pretty good. They seemed to keep me full longer.

Thank You! I have never thought about putting marmalade in cottage cheese. I normally don't like cottage cheese but that sounds good! I love those Lean Cuisine and Smart Ones too and I am thrilled they finally came out with low carb frozen meals. It sounds like I need to up my veggies, too. Thanks again.

Yea, I got the gym habit 3 years ago in my last attempt to lose weight. I lost inches in my thighs but never lost an ounce. Now I feel really guilty if I don't make it to the gym. Right now I have a bad cold so I didn't go today, but I usually spend the most time on Sat. and Sun. when I don't have to worry about hurrying to get to work. The only day I don't go is Mon. because it's so crowded on Mondays I get too frustrated waiting around to use the stuff I want to use. Plus I read you're supposed to take a break, so I choose Mondays as my day for a break.

You're doing better than me. I was banded at the end of Dec. and lost 20 during the liquid stage and 2 since then. It's very discouraging. I hope when I get another fill, I start to lose. This is ridiculous.:phanvan

Yes, I guess I am pretty lucky in that respect. I only live 5 min from the doctor's office where I was banded. Plus my daughter is an RN. I live in a small town, and the hospital is also less than 5 min from my house. I feel badly for the people that come from farther away in this state to go to this dr. Since he only charges 10,000 we have people driving 4 hours or more to go to him. In the bigger cities in Oregon, there are dr.'s charging twice that much.

:clap2: Congratulations !!:clap2: You must be so excited! Can you share some of your success with us? For instance, what are some of your favorite things to eat (things that don't give you trouble) How many fills in relation to weight loss? I am very discouraged, because I only have one fill, but food gets stuck all the time. I am afraid to get another fill, but I want to lose weight. People say not to drink liquid calories, but I drink slim fast every morning. I have to put benefiber in something because there is very little fiber in the diet my dr. told me to follow-70% protein and 30% fruits and veggies. If you could share how you did this, I am sure you would be a big help to all of us. Your goal weight is similar to mine, but I would thrilled even to get to 155. I started at 215 and have only lost 22 lbs and 20 of it was during the 4 weeks on liquids.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Well it sounds like we are all carb addicts. How do those meetings go "My name is Denise and I am addicted to carbs" The thing that makes me mad is I am not eating them and I am still not losing. I have to remember that I have read on several threads on this board that most doctors say it can take 2 years to get to our goal weight. How in the heck do we stay patient? I feel like going back on the liquid diet. At least then I was losing. I was bored with them, but I was losing.

    Mexico or States

I am sure all the doctors in Mexico are very fine doctors. If I lived in California, the flight wouldn't have been as far.I fly all the time to go and see my elderly father and I hate flying. I wanted to be able to come home as soon as possible. I think 10,000 is right in line with the doctors from Mexico. It sounds like I may have spent $1,000 more, but I was banded at 8am and home by 11 am feeling great with no pain what so ever.

    Mexico or States

I was banded in Oregon. My dr. charges 10,000 and I really don't know what they charge in Mexico, but by the time I add airfare in there, would it have been that much cheaper? The 10,000 includes free fills for a year and all the after care.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

That's for sure!!!:omg: I had that problem when I went to visit my dad in Arizona. Several people had given him candy for valentines day. He is 88 and has no appetite. I wish I had that problem. I finally had to dump all the candy down the garbage disposal, and it took me a couple of weeks to get back to where I was after a week on vacation. And it's taken me 3 more weeks to lose 2 more lbs. I am pretty disappointed to have only lost 22 lbs and 20 of them were on the liquid stage.
