Slow loser needs advice from good losers

I think that's it. I am tight in the monring so if I eat something more solid than yogurt, it doesn't sit well. That's why I have that or a protein drink. Some sites say don't drink your calories, but I think it's better to have something in my stomach, with the medications I take.

I am glad to see that you eat Yogurt for breakfast too. I put the fiber one in there for fiber too, even though it's carbs. It's good carbs. I have trouble in the morning. I feel sort of nauseous in the morning.

Do you think any others of you would be willing to share what a typical day's menu is for them? I can compare. I honestly don't know what restriction is supposed to feel like, and if I have it or not. I just try to eat small portions. I get hungry in about 3 hours but I will ususally just drink a glass of water and wait until it's time to eat. I eat lunch at noon and dinner at 5 and I am always hungry when I go to bed. I can't go off my hormones because when I didn't take them, I would go for days on only a couple hours of sleep. I still have trouble sleeping.

I wondered about that whole idea of not enought calories and the body goes into starvation mode. When I was on my liquid diet 4 weeks post surgery, I lost 22 lbs. I was drinking 3 slim fast low carb or Atkins drinks per day. They are 150 -160 calories I think .The Slim fast I think is 190.

Slow loser needs advice from good losers

I start out the day with a glass of hot Water to get my medications down. Breakfast is hard because I don't feel like eating in the monring. Sometimes I will have a Protein shake or bar, and sometimes I will eat a dannon lite yogurt. 60 claories and made with spelenda Yesterday I had a bbq chicken thigh and a little brocolli cooked very well for lunch (chicken breast always sticks and is painful) For dinner I had a piece of ground turkey meatloaf approx. 3/4" in. thick with about a table spoon of ketchup. and more very well cooked brocolli. Sometimes for lunch I have a spinach salad with chicken breast and Walmart's Italiain fat free dressing. It has 10 calories for 2 T. I have to cut the chicken into tiny slivers and chew the fresh brocolli into slime before I swallow. Sometimes in the evenings I have a sugar free pposicle 10 calories. I wait an hour after I eat and drink water- as much as I can. I had 32 oz before breafast today. I am waiting my hour and I will have another 32 oz after lunch. Another quesiton? How are we supposed to get the Fiber in. That link you gave me was great. I use benefiber in my water.

    December Bandsters in april

Happy Birthday! I found that there are two December banster threads. One says December in April, and the other says December bandsters. Where are we supposed to be posting? I am eating right and not losing. I am hoping to see something gone soon. These plateaus are so frustrating.

Sorry about the double post. I looked and it looked like it didn't post. I tried to edit to add something and I thought I lost the whole post.

How much of a portion are we supposed to eat at one time? I dont' use a lot of sauces, except for a little ketchup on my ground turkey meat loaf. I am 5'2'' tall and I am at 188 right now. I started at 212. I am 54 years old and I am afraid it's because I take hormone replacement therapy. I have heard that people just can't lose if they take hormones, but I don't how that can be true. I do track my calories at Spark People. I avereage about 1,000 My doctor has nothing to say about this other than it's harder as we get older. I am afraid to get another fill because I do get full fast, and I have to eat really slowly because food gets stuck . I don't pb though. thanks again.

I see that people have viewed this, but I sure wish someone would offer me some advice. I am getting depressed after paying all that money and afraid that I am going to be stuck on another plateau. How do I know if I need another fill? Somebody please help me!
  12. Yes, I love spark people. they have a lot of good things to read too.
  13. When I do cardio I usually do 20 min on the stair stepper, 20 min on the elliptical, and 20 min on the treadmill. On the treadmill I walk fast for a min or two an jog for a minute or two. I have different weight machines that I use and I do a bunch of ab work. Today I had a Dannon Lite about 3/4 of one for breakfast. I can't eat very well when I get up. I put a little bit of Fiber one Cereal in there. lunch I had a bbq chicken thigh and some brocolli cooked very well dinner I had 1 piece of turkey meatloaf and some more of the brocolli. I had a sugar free popcsicle for dessert. I had about 80 oz of Water so far.

:guessBubble, have you decided whether or not you'll be having your band removed? I've just been thinking about you..........

    December Bandsters

Are the December bansters posting here, or December bandsters in April. I am struggling along, but I hope that this plateau is temporary.
  16. Yes I do exercise about 6 days a week. I do a lot of cardio and I lift weights. By hormones I was talking about hormone replacement therapy. I gained a lot of weight during menopause. That's when I started working out and going to the gym every day. I didn't lose any weight. That's when I decided to get the band.
  17. Can you tell me what that feels like? I have 2 cc in there but food gets stuck so frequently that I am afraid to have anymore put in there. Does food stick for you? when you say you have resriction, does that mean that you are full after just a few bites? Everyone talks about restriction, but what does that mean? How much restriction are we looking for? Thank you!
  18. I looked at your food log on obestiy help and I am eating very similar to you.I am not losing. I am wondering if it's becasue I take hormones. I have heard it's a lot harder to lose when you're on them. I have had the band 3 month and have lost 24 lbs. 22 of it was the first 4 weeks of being on a liquid diet. I just had a fill last week and lost a little. I hope I don't go on another 2 month plataeu:speechles

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

You were banded a month before me and you have lost twice as much as I have. I had a fill a week ago and finally lost 3 lbs after a 2 month plateau, but I havn't lost anything since then.:phanvan

    Slow Losers - Unite!

Sarah, I would like to try what you said about starting a new thread. I am still not sure where things go on this board. Is it the main lap band forrum? And would I just say that some of us are doing what we're told and not losing anyway, and ask for advice? I haven't lost anything after I lost a couple lbs when I got filled. It's like my body just gets used to the size of portions it gets and stops losing. I am not starving myself. Some people say if you don't eat enough, you won't lose either. I eat between 1,000 and 1,200 calories a day. I eat mostly Protein, but I do have Kashi Cruch Cereal a couple times a week. It's high in Fiber and I worry about colon cancer from eating only protein. It's what they call "good carbs" anyway.

    Low Fat Low Carb

I make things with ground turkey instead of ground beef. The fat is lower in ground turkey.

    Complications due to altitude???

I definitely had problems when I flew from Oregon to Arizona. I could eat just fine before I left. The problems started as soon as I got off the airplane and went to dinner. That was even before I had a fill.

    Can't take it anymore!

Wow! I just found this thread. I am so sorry to hear of all your problems. I have been on these medications for a long time,( actually all 3 of them but not at the same time.) My dr. gives me samples of whatever he has available. I am concerned because years ago, I had the scope down into my stomach, and my dr. told me I had a hiatal (sp?) hernia. I totally forgot to talk to the surgeon about it at my pre-op appointment. Now that I have a fill, everything sticks. I don't think there is any way I could get any more saline or I would definitely start pbing. I drink a glass of hot Water as soon as I get up in the morning. When I went for this fill, I asked the surgeon if he repaired my hiatal hernia. I had read on here and saw it on the video that if there is a hernia , it must be repaired when they place the band. My surgeon said he didn't see a hernia. I know it's there, because before I ever got banded, I used to say that my throat closed up. Sometimes I couldn't get water to go down until it opened. That's when I went for the test and they stuck the scope down there. (I am not a nurse like you so I don't know all the correct terminology.) Anyway, I can relate to dreading to eat. I really want to lose weight, and I am not pbing, but it's painful when things get stuck. I hope they find the answers for you. I have read similar situations on other boards where people have had to have the band removed. I am kind of worried that will be the end result for me too. My regular doctor wants to do that scope again, because he is worried about that Barretts whatever you call it.

    what can YOU not eat?

I would have liked to read those past posts that you made the links for, but I got an error message with each one. I am having most meats stick really badly. I haven't pbed but it hurts a lot until it finally goes down or through or whatever it does. Was anyone else able to use these links?
