I use tic tacks when I can't stand the taste any longer. They help. I try to eat a bit of fruit because I think we need fruit in our diet and I can still keep the carbs low enough and stay out of ketosis.

Sucralose is Splenda, isn't it? mac, how much is the chike? How big is the container for that price? I want to get some and that sweetner. What other flavors do you like? I bought some of those lean Desserts that the people on OH rave about. So far, I am not impressed. I kind of like the fudge pudding flavor if I use half Hood Carb Countdown and half Water. I think the tubs are kind of small for the price though.

hey again--anyone relate?

8 Weeks Out From Gastric Sleeve Surgery And Wishing I Could Turn Back Time
Oregondaisy replied to *Lib*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Dr. Aceves definitely did Elisabeth's surgery. We are all very glad to answer any questions all the time to anyone who asks! -
I drink a lot of Water. I know I drink enough. It does come and go. Sometimes, it's after eating, and sometimes I can't link it to anything.
-
Susan, you will have to ask Vegas Angel. I am pretty computer illiterate and she set it up for me. I just picked the hair color, etc. Actually, I like the ones on LBT that you sent me a link to awhile ago, but I was unable to figure out how to get it to set as an avatar after I made the character from the link you gave me. This one gives me a short strange body with no neck, but they were all like that. I liked the one you sent me the link to. They had big huge eyes and reminded me of those Japanese cartoon people, if I remember correctly.

It was salty but yummy. I would have liked it to not have so much salt, but heck, it was lobster for heaven's sake! I couldn't help but gobble it down. If you noticed, I gobble all my food down. My slowing down to eat seems to be forgotten. I sure gobbled down those nachos too!

I am willing to be that if a poll were taken, the majority of us have had their surgery done by Dr. Aceves. His credentials are excellent.
-
We are all glad that we are able to support Dr. Aceves. He is great, and without him and that great hospital, there are so many of us who could not afford to get that surgery!

In the beginning, I was only able to eat a few bites of tuna salad, egg salad, or chicken salad. I tried to eat 2-3 bites as often as I could manage it. It was hard. The best advice I can give you is to try to find a Protein drink that you like. There are a lot out there, and a lot you can order online. You can ask anyone which they like, and there are samples you can order to try things so you aren' stuck with a bunch of something you don't like. When you aren't sipping on a Protein Drink, sip Water or crystal lite or whatever you can manage. -
Calcium Citrate - which tastes best?
Oregondaisy replied to i1Linda's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Hey I am glad I could help out with that! I love vitacost. I have to take a lot of herbs for interstitial cystitis and they save me a ton of money. I buy their chewable calcium citrate and I don't mind the taste at all. I am not very fond of their chewable multi Vitamin though. When I run out, I am going to buy the gummi adult vitiamins at costco. -
I get nauseous from time to time as well. I am not sure what causes it. I have heard a lot of people complain about it, so I think it's normal. It's not unmanageable. I recently got a prescription for nausea medication in case I need it. I would rather be nauseous than over eat like I did before I had the sleeve.

mmm...re banding or sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to possum's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Read the stories that all of us have posted who have had revision surgery from band to sleeve. Once you have the sleeve, after care is pretty much over. No erosion, no fills, no unfills, no chance of a slip, etc. I could go on and on. Life is so much better with a sleeve. -
All was well until today
Oregondaisy replied to mist3blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you are experiencing is very normal. Take the imodium when you need to. The diarrhea gets old in a hurry. -
You should go to the section of the board where people tell their stories. There are so many of us who have had revision surgery because there is no other way to put it. The band sucks. There is nothing good about it. Feel free to ask me anything.
-
I think this board is very easy to navigate. It's all divided up into whatever section you are interested in. If you click on User Cp it will bring you back to whatever threads you have posted in. I find the other board really hard to find my threads that I am interested in reading.

Having trouble transitioning into maintenance
Oregondaisy replied to MacMadame's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you don't keep nuts in the house, it's easier to not eat them every day. I can't keep anything in the house that is tempting. -
Mac where do you get that? Is that something from a health food store? Stevia can have a bitter taste to it.
-
This is a new one on me. A lot of people will say they have a strange taste in their mouth from the lack of carbs, but I have not heard of it being called "sour"
-
I take it you mean it bugs you? lol. Not that you're eating bugs? It bugs me too. So many things taste too salty to me. Everyone seems to be complaining that things taste too sweet to them. Sweetness does not bother me, but salty sure does.

Having trouble transitioning into maintenance
Oregondaisy replied to MacMadame's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's good Mac. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to swtich over. I think you said on another thread that you added in nuts, and they are a good protein but high in calories. So that's a good thing. You're still taking in protein, but adding back something good. -
Missed my band....or damm that sleeve!
Oregondaisy replied to burnsun's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't like Kettle corn as much as regular popcorn. I am glad the sleeve does not let me eat as much popcorn at the movies as my band did. -
Home early and feeling kind of yucky!
Oregondaisy replied to AJW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those Protein shots are not supposed to be a good form of protein. There is a lot of controversy on the subject. They are made with collagen which is boiled cow hides, but then again, so is Jello. My dr. and nutritionist does not recommend that we use them, but I know a lot of people do. -

If you get used to exercising, maybe you will enjoy it. I miss my gym time when I don't go. It's really good for my moods and I get quite annoyed if something interferes with my gym time. -
What are your plans this weekend? My plans this weekend are hanging out with Vegas Angel Bearded Italian and Ruthi. We went to downtown Las Vegas last night and that was a real eye opener. It was a lot of fun. There was music playing and a dome over the whole area with Woodstock music playing and a moving video of scenes from Woodstock. It was really cool. This afternoon Vegas Angel Ruthi and I went shopping. We found the Fage yogurt at Trader Joes which I am anxious to try. I wish I had a Trader Joes. I also bought a scale at Jennie Craig and I am having it shipped home. Tonight we are going to see a show and to the Strip. That should be a lot of fun. Tomorrow I have to fly home. 2) What's your favorite movie and why? My favorite movie is Forest Gump. I don't know why I love that movie so much, other than it spans the entire time of when I grew up. 3) How many states have you visited? Lived in? Your favorite? I have visited so many states I couldn't list them all. When I was 17 my parents dragged me around on this trip across the United States with their RV from Chicago to California all the way back to New Orleans. The only states we missed were the Northeastern ones. I was a teenager who missed my bf at the time, and was not pleasant to be around at the time. The only states I have lived in are Oregon and Illinois. I would love to live in San Diego because I think the weather is perfect there. That will never happen though, because I know how expensive it is to live there. I do like Oregon better than living in Chicago, although I miss Lake Michigan a lot. It's like a big nice warm ocean. The ocean in Oregon is freezing cold and pretty to look at but not much good to play in.
