Sergio was fabulous. they all are, but I will never forget visiting with Sergio every night in my room when he brought me Dr. Campos' laptop. -
I was told to take my 50,000 units of Vit D3 once a week for the rest of my life. It took me about 3 months to get my Iron levels up. Now I take iron with VitC for better absorption which I got from Vitalady.

Peanut Butter - Chocolate protein powder?
Oregondaisy replied to Globetrotter's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I love the PVL peanut butter chocolate from Netrtion too. It's expensive though, so I usually just use davinchi or torrini sf peanut butter syrup and add it to my shakes. I don't like the PB2 at all. I think it's really gritty. -
Any doctor who has done a lot of gastric bypasses/RNY can do a sleeve. The experience you need for a good sleeve surgeon is someone who is experienced with staple lines. You have do a lot of staple lines when you do a RNY. The main thing you need to find out is if he has done RNY or DS,not just a band doctor.

Does anyone know if this is true?
Oregondaisy replied to Becca's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's very important that you take calcium citrate not calcium carbonate. Calcium citrate does not take acid in your system to be absorbed and it's recommended for sleeve patients. -

Actually, I was allowed string cheese when I advanced to soft or mushy foods. you could always dip it in pizza sauce. Pizza sauce is also good in cottage cheese. -
Is this heartburn?
Oregondaisy replied to Rosiebell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most doctors put their patients on a PPI immediately after surgery. I am surprised your surgeon didn't put you on it right away. -

Oregondaisy replied to selvester420's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing I really enjoyed when I was on the liquid diet was egg flower soup from the chinese places. I felt like I was actually eating food instead of being on a liquid diet. -
Rating protein powders
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have tried it and it doesn't bother me. I put it in yogurt. Some people say it does have a weird taste, but I don't think it does. -

Yes,I can eat anything I want. There is nothing that is off limits. I can eat pizza, half a sandwich, steak, pork, etc. I eat whatever I feel like eating, just a much smaller amount than anyone else. I just had 4 bbq ribs. -

Sounds like heartburn to me. To me, heartburn and acid are the same thing. -
What is head hunger?
Oregondaisy replied to Dave_NW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Head hunger for me is not my stomach growling. It's that feeling in my head "oh boy, what sounds good?" -

What made you decide to switch from the band to the sleeve?
Oregondaisy replied to Becca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Very few people know that I am sleeved either. I don't think it's anyone's business. It's on a need to know basis. My kids know and a couple of my very good friends. I eat pretty normally now, so it's not that big of a deal anymore to eat in front of people. -
Help! I need FIBER!
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, Miralax does work. It's great stuff. I still go to my support group that is held at my band doctor's. He recommends Miralax all the time. He said you can use it every day. It just puts Fluid into the place it needs to go. Once you're off liquids, and old weight watchers recommendation was to put some fiber one Cereal into your yogurt. It's good. It makes it crunchy. -
Help! I need FIBER!
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get some benefiber and put it in your water or juice. You can also stew prunes. Get some prunes and put some water in a bowel. cook them in the microwave until they are very soft. -

Oregondaisy replied to jg62's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I agree with Susan. If you're in a lot of pain, you need to go to the emergency room. The medication they told you to take at home may not be stong enough, and it's easy to get dehyrated. You might need an IV at the hospital. -
What made you decide to switch from the band to the sleeve?
Oregondaisy replied to Becca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The people who can keep their band long term are very rare. There are an extrodinary amount of people who have severe problems with their esophagus and stomach from the band that is permanent. -
ice cream. I can eat a little bit but more than a little bit and I get horrible gas and diarrhea. Not that I need to eat a bunch of ice cream, but I do love ice cream. It's probably a good thing it makes me sick. That's the only thing really that I can say I have issues with. I can eat anything else. Any other sweets give me gas, but it's not painful gas the way ice cream is. If I eat candy, I will pass gas. My friend who is a nurse told me it's because the sugar does not properly digest since it moves out of the stomach quickly.

What made you decide to switch from the band to the sleeve?
Oregondaisy replied to Becca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The band made me constantly sick. It was an easy decision as soon as I found out about the sleeve that I wanted that thing out of me as soon as possible and to have revision surgery to the sleeve. The sleeve is everything the band was supposed to be-small portions and no hunger. The band can completely ruin your stomach and esohagus so I wanted it out before it did so much damage that it could not be repaired.
