    My Last Supper

Hi Dana, Thanks for your update...WOW - 10 pounds in a week...That's amazing. So, you didn't have a 2 week Optifast diet before surgery? Your profile pic looks fantastic...And you need to lose weight? Has it been a hard adjustment? With all the chewing and eating slow? I worry about things like being able to swallow a Tylenol when I have a headache or being so thirsty and not able to drink water (really chug it down)... I guess it just takes time to get used to. I'm at my all time high of 230 and would like to see 135.

    getting very frustrated!

What have your Doctors said??? I would make an apt. and get checked out - See if your band slipped...You should only be able to eat a cup (8 oz. tops) and once you have you should feel full...If you eat past that point you would vomit. I'm guessing something is up with your band.

    Here I go...

It's to make sugery easier and to run smooth...Having a pure liquid diet will make the liver like a dry sponge - Being overweight the liver is full and heavy like a wet sponge...Much harder for the Doctor to lift and get to your stomach...

    Here I go...

The countdown is on...Next Friday (Nov 5th) I start Optifast for 2 weeks and have my Lapband in on NOv 19th...I'm so excited...I'm putting my blinders on and going full force - Not even going to think about the 2 weeks of liquid...Just going to DO IT! I just posted pic's of me from the past few months and will update when I have completed the Optifast (Night before surgery)...I will continue to post as I melt away. Anyone else out there who would like to journey together I would love the company.:tongue::drool:

    Here I go...

Hey guys, Love to share our up's and down's along the way (hope for more up's)...I actually see a light at the end of all this. I'm sure we've all been on diet's that have worked - then failed...I worry I'm going to mess this up and gain weight. After seeing all the photo's of before /after gives me hope that the band WILL work...Kamsie01 - You're on day 5 and Dawn Fink you're on day 6...Any advice on the 2 week liquid??? The Nurse told me only 4 shakes a day and zero sugar drinks...That's it...So, I'm going from who knows how many calories a day to 900...Little scared but trying to stay positive.
  8. Beginning with a few pics taken within a few months of starting Optifast. I will add as I disappear...
  9. Hey, I will be banded on Nov 19th...I'm so excited and scared...I just want this to work. I've tried EVERYTHING to lose, then just gain back. Have you found it hard at all...Any bumps in the road?

I'm living in Toronto Canada and have to pay on our own $16,000 so this is quite a step I'm taking...Where are you from?

    Under 35 BMI and banded

Way to go...I'm getting my band on Nov 19th and my start weight is 226 right now...So, not too far off from you. I too worry if I'm making the right choice - I'm paying as well $16,000.00 in Canada...And wonder what if it doesn't work...But, after seeing all the after pic's I'm sure it's a positive step to lose the weight.

    8 days post op....

I love to hear that some still eat "Bad" food...Because going into this I plan to eat what I always have only MUCH smaller portions...Instead of a full burger - I'll have 1/2 a kids size and a few fries...IF it agrees with me...I get banded on November 19th...I worry that I would have to eat all the healthy choices like chicken & fish ALL the time and just fruit & veggies...I didn't get the way I am by eating those choices - And I'm sure just by getting banded I won't stop eating them over night...I'm sure as the weight comes off I will begin to make better choices and throw in some exercise too...But, small changes over time & with the band it will help to cut the portions in half if not more.

    protein mix

Oh no...I've read others saying the same thing...One switched to the SlimFast shakes...Maybe ask your Doctor if you can switch...I start on Nov 5th and get banded on the 19th...When do you go?

    stressed and discouraged

Hey Erin... How long ago did you get your band? How much have you lost? I'm getting my band Nov 19th...I worry it won't work or I'll mess it up somehow... Do you have family you can talk to? Friends? I'm here if you need to vent...
  16. Hi, I'm just starting the process for a Nov 19th surgery date with Dr. Woolfson... I see you did it back in 2008? Office has moved and I'm sure their is new staff on board...If you're still around to chat I would love to know your experience with Credit Valley Clinic. Thanks!
  17. Hi Ape087, I received a package from one of the surgeons and it said to keep the full feeling longer not to drink for 2 hrs after eating...As well as a hour before so the food stays solid in your stomach longer.
  18. Hey Tonkabelle, I'm in the same vote...I just told my mom and her reaction was "Have you REALLY tried to lose the weight?" And my reply was "I have tried for 8 years...Still up and down and now I'm at my all time high...So, I feel this is my last resort. I'm worried about eating too much that will cause the blockage, not being able to drink for 2 hours after a meal - really trying to time all my meals in with drinking. And making sure I chew well enough...And what to eat and what will pass ok and what will cause pain...All these stories from other Lap Banders with all the vomiting and band slipping...FREAKS me out. As well as the procedure itself...I've never been put out before so that scares me...Any complications after scares me...And will I beable to do the liquid diet pre/post op??? Lets get real we all LOVE food so to go from eating to ONLY liquid is going to be hard. I just don't want to fail... We have ours done a day apart...Will be nice to see how we're doing together. Are you in the USA? I'm in Canada.
  19. Hey Girls... I'm in for Nov 19th... I'm a mom of 2 (ages 4 & 7), married 8 years and have been over weight since my first pregnancy. I live in Canada (Toronto)...And we have to pay in full for the procedure ALL $16,000.00 NO coverage. We get 5 years of fillers and 24/7 support. The liquid shakes are extra ($200) & post op meds are extra too. I worry I'll mess up...Anyone scared it won't work???
