I'm 59 - surgery on Nov 22. I have had similar experiences to yours...cpap (which I stopped 2 years ago - too uncomfortable), knees and joint problems, legs swelling and ankles painful. My blood pressure had been trying to increase too. It took me three years to convince myself that this was the right decision. I initially fought it tooth and nail.
I'm not looking forward to the liquid diet either, but have resigned myself that tht is a major part of the process - so I will have a good attitude about it and get through it!!
