    OMG this is real!

Tomorrow is my first day of the 2 week liquid diet. Now that is all so real I AM FREAKING OUT! I am having anxiety about money, anxiety about being denied disability, anxiety just because. I know in the long run I will be happy, but tonight is a little rough.

    Aflac???

Thank you for your reply. I guess I am kinda in freak out mode tonight as I start my liquid diet tomorrow and it is all becoming very very real. It seems I fought so long and hard and now that it is happening it is kinda freaking me out. I want to take 6 weeks off work. I have 2 disability policies and hope not to be out any cash in the long run. How fast did they pay you?
  5. Thanks Susan, I am remarried and my husband will be there with me so that is covered. I am just trying to figure out if I should share with my kids, maybe I should just say screw it, my ex is my ex, not part of my life the hell with what he has to say!
  6. I went to the seminar in July, had my initial consult Aug th. They did blood work and H. Pylori then. The next week I went to the psych eval and then when I passed that it was all submitted to my insurance. About 3 weeks later I was approved. I then went for a sleep study, an ultra sound and Nutritional counseling one time and my insurance has a lady call me every couple of weeks who goes over diet changes and how things are going. I also had to do a support group meeting ran by the doctors office one time. I am now scheduled for Nov rd and they said part of my pre op will be an upper and lower GI.

    time off of work?

I must selfishly admit that I am hoping for 6 weeks because I have to work holidays in my line work 6 weeks would take care of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. I have worked the last 10 years of holidays and I am ready to enjoy the season! Also where I work it is a gluten fest at the holidays and I just want to avoid that.
  8. Well since posting this I was told by a co worker everyone knows. HOW???? I am not sure, but it is what it is. I am a 911 dispatcher and there are 6 of us so it is a small center. I decided to go to each person that was mentioned and say " Hey I was told you know about this, it is a personal journey and in the future if the topic comes up I would prefer you state that and leave it alone." I don't want all the cops talking about it just yet. I figured in time they would all put 2 and 2 together, but right now I can only deal with what I have to go through without all the other pressure. As for the kids, I keep going back and forth in my head. I can see where my daughter would be hurt, but my 18 yo son, well he's 18 nuff said. I have been divorced for 11 years, but the sob is just nasty and now that all the kids are grown I want to give him nothing to say about me. Unfortunately the kids still feed into the "telling Dad" thing.

    time off of work?

Is it your Doctor or work dictating your time off? I am taking FMLA and I hoping the doc will fill the paperwork out for 6 weeks and that I will be able use my disability insurance.

    Depressed "/

Hi there, fellow Pcos sister here. As you know that makes us insulin resistant. I have taken off 40 pounds by eliminating sugars of all types and eating Turkey chef salads A LOT. The trick is to keep your Blood sugar level. I have replaced breakfast with a high quality protein drink and some days I also skip dinner and have a protein drink. No breads and lost of high protein. Out for dinner? Chicken and veggies only. Lunch? tuna fish, plain. Find something you like without the carbs and your blood sugar will stabilize and then the pounds come off. Best of luck to you, I know the battle is touch and temptations lurk everywhere.

    The waiting game

Thanks all, I have BCBS PPO in IL through the Carpenters union. I just heard, I HAVE a date! NOV 22! I started all this in July, I went to a "required" seminar where they take you from there to book your first appointment. I had my first Apt on Aug 9th and then about a week later went a pshch eval that I thought was rather easy. Then I waited and waited on the insurance, I guess they take you on a case by case basis and then they called and said I was approved about 3 weeks later, but as I stated above for the wrong surgery. So then 3 more weeks go by and I got approval for the right surgery. From there I have pushed straight through and took days off just to jump all the hoops. Support group meeting, nutritional counseling., phone counseling, and the pulmonologist was last week and today I have a date! I am excited and nervous all in one.
  14. The Kane Center I am going through requires one pre and one post op support group meeting. I have been to the pre support and I must admit I learned alot, but the one thing I noticed was that there seemed to be a lot of folks there who have had their surgeries and and well seemed to be "hooked" on support groups. I don't want food and my impending weight loss to be an obsession, just for it to become the norm. How many here go to support groups, or did? Do you prefer to get your support other places? I am all for learning, just not obsessing.
  15. Hello, I have been approved by bcbs il physically and pscychology. Can anyone tell what a comprehesive weight loss progam is? I have been losing since Jan down to 238 from 271 by following what my doc told me to do, but no real program per say. Will that be counted?
  16. Hello, I have been lurking here for a while and reading and reading. In July I went down to take care of my daughter and grandbabies after she had gastric bypass. She had no complications, I was a bit shocked to see how much pain she was in the first week. Her biggest struggle however was breaking up with food and trying to get her protien down. Which leads me to the first of many questions I have. I am looking at the sleeve for myself and I read how people are having trouble with getting the protien down before their surgery. I understand afterwards but I am confused why it is a problem before and why would you need to? I had my initial consulation on August 9th and I am physically approved by my insurance and I just went for the pysch eval and the doctor said she seen no reason why she would not recommend me for the surgery. So now I wait to see what else the insurance company will want from me. I have to tell you I was all gun ho (sp?) until I read the complications section and I have to tell you I have been a bundle of nerves since I read it, not sure any longer if I should. I fear the leak and the possiblity of a long recovery. (fear of complictions, fear of finacial problems from it, dying) Thank you all for ahead of time for letting me state my concerns, feeback is more than welcom.
