  1. I know what you mean about going to the old size. Heck I don't even know how the sizes work out of the womans sections! What the heck is all this Missy's, Petites ect????? What happened to a size 12 being a size 12? The other thing I find funny getting past is when you go to put on your new size clothes and you feel like they are going to be too small because you are used to how far wide they opened before. It is like a second of panic and then a celebration because they do indeed go on!
  2. Absolutely NO REGRETS! I am 5 weeks out from the sleeve and I am loving the amazing changes taking place! If ambien is crushable you will be fine, also if memory serves me ambien is pretty darn small so even if it is not uncrushable it should be fine, but talk to you pharmacist and doctor. Premier Protein shakes have the BEST chocolate taste, available at costco and amazon. You like myself will probably be LOVING sugar free choc pudding after the surgery! To this day my husband is trying to sabotage me. Do you want candy at the movies, do you want a shake from Mcdonalds ect. I have gotten to the point I become the b*tch from hell when he pulls it. And yes, I have heard the line "When you get skinny" I have told him it is not about getting skinny for me, it is about healthy and not taking so many meds.

    My New YouTube Journey

Good for you! I have made 3 videos, my goal is once a month. I know watching videos in my research helped me a lot and I thought I could help someone else as well as keeping myself accountable and to be able to see the changes over time.

    Do you have BCBS Insurance?

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Il and they required a BMI of 35 and a co morbidity. I did not have to have a scope.
  7. 160 calories! 1 gram carb and 3 grams fat
  8. Well you certianly have been through more hoops than most of us. Congratulations on your perseverance! Prayers for your upcoming surgery!
  9. There are a few different ones out there. I bought from Celebrate. My link vitacost.com also has some chewable Vitamins and Iron, however they are not specified bariatric so you will have to compare nutrients. I also use Premiere Protein drinks from costco, or Amazon. Amazon is more expensive. I have one for Breakfast each day and that gives me 30 grams of protein right off the bat! They taste like choc milk.
  10. I had tried the New Whey when my daughter had RNY before my surgery. That strong taste made both of us want to puke! I will stick with Premiere protein shakes. Takes like a chocolate treat at has 30 grams of protein.

I have the Zumba for Wii. It moves a bit fast for this old lady, but I will keep trying. Oh and it takes all I got!
  12. As long as it is zero calorie! Post op you will not be able to do carbonation.

Serious doubts after visit with surgeon (long)

I second all who have told you to get another opinion,, as a matter of fact I would say RUN don't walk to another doctor! This is just one bump in the road to a better life! Anything worth doing in life always has a few obstacles to overcome. I thought I would never get done with the the insurance companies requests. Most everyone getting sleeved in the states completes the following with out fail: Psych eval, sleep study, nut counseling, 6 months diet, lung doctor visit, pre testing, ultrasound of abdomen. It is all meant for your own good and success with the sleeve. You wouldn't want to go through this and end up with a major complication that could have been prevented. Doctors are mearly people who give opinions based on their experience.
  15. Thanks for letting us know your AMAZING results. I am 5 weeks out and so far I am loving my sleeve! I wish it I were months out!
  16. Mushies and liquids and yes even crackers will go down easy and provide little resistance. Wait till you have something like lunch meat or chicken, I warn you to go slow and chew and chew and chew, swallow and let a couple minutes go by before starting the next bite. With real food, if you go to fast you miss the full signal (it is very different than before) and if you pass it up with that one bite to many you will be in a world of hurt! Then you will probably have to vomit. After a while you will get why they call soft foods, puddings, creams ect slider foods. Real food fills you after about 3 bites and you really need to tune into your signals not to over do it and hurt yourself.

    Ready to Go

Congrats and welcome to the Loser side !
  18. Second week back and work and down 2!!!! pant sizes. I am giving the boss a run for the money on uniforms!

  19. Your are eating meats and veggies before 3 weeks? That in itself maybe a problem.
  20. Janet I am sorry you having a bad day. I bet you are just plain exhausted and that is not helping your emotions. It will get better, did you try something warm? I found that comforting in the liquid phase. Are you on full liquids? If so I found sugar free chocolate pudding a delicacy! It was like having a sinful treat without the calories! I promise you this will to shall pass. Especially when you start seeing the pounds come off, you will really LOVE your sleeve. Now when you have a what did I do to myself moment I would suggest sitting down and making a list of all the things you look forward to doing/having when you are thinner. Tape that list to the mirror and have a talk with yourself, You did this to get that! No pain, no loss of bad habits, excess weight, constant food thoughts. YOU ARE IN CONTROL NOW!

    OUCH - 4 weeks pre-op diet

Every surgeon is different. Strange, I was told to stay low on carbs because that is what shrinks the liver.
  22. the 2 lumps that used to be on my chest, any idea where they might have gone???? Seriously I am about 68 pounds done from Jan of 2010 and one month post op and suddenly I have lost my breasts! I look down and all I see is baggy shirt material where they used to be. I am not sure how I feel about that.

    OUCH - 4 weeks pre-op diet

Just one question? Aren't most slimfast products high on carbs? My Carbs on pre op diet were less than 15 a day to ptomote liver shrinkage. There are cheaper high protien drinks with low carbs out there like Max at the vitamin shoppe. I know they wanted me to use Bariatric Advantage drinks costing a hundred dollars for 2 weeks so I toolk the nutritional info go the vit shoppe and found Max to be the same. I used that and Premier protien shakes formy two week All liquid diet.

    Post Op?

A variety of the low cal Gatorade. Protein shakes. Your computer and maybe some movies. Comfy clothes for the tummy. Some herbal teas for soothing the tummy. If you have stairs you might want to keep some clothes down stairs for the fist couple days. Mouth wash!!!!! You mouth tastes yucky as you go into ketosis.
