  1. Hi everyone. My dr had me come in early the next morning. He took out 2.5cc. He had me drink Water before I left and so far, so good. I immediately felt better after the unfill. He told me that we will start over, smaller though he didn't take it all out. I feel a little restriction but at least now I can drink Water and keep it down. Thank you all for the responses.

    I feel great!

  2. If you can keep any Fluid down then you can wait until morning. Try something hot like a sip of hot tea.

If you can't keep anything down (including your saliva) then you need to go to the ER.

I did get a hold of my Dr. He said I can wait it out until the morning then go see him, or I can head to the ER if it gets worse. Here's an example...it's kinda gross. I took a sip of orange juice, it came up quickly looking like egg yolk. So yes, I'm having trouble keeping down my saliva. My Dr. and the hospital are 45 minutes away. I want to go, but we have a tornado warning amongst other things. Bad weather all around. I think I might wait until the morning. Thank you so much for responding.

  3. I had my first fill today at about noon. It's now almost 5pm and I'm still feeling a little uncomfortable. The visit itself was very quick, easy and painless. He put in 4cc. He told me that my first meal should be liquid. When I got to my car approximately 10 minutes later, I took a drink of Water and it felt like I swallowed air and it all pretty much came right back up. I'm feeling the same way as if I had just had the operation to get the band in. I'm burping a lot. I tried sipping on some chicken broth and Water and it's all come back up. I defintely don't feel hungry, but I also don't feel nourished. If that makes any sense. Also, everything that's coming up is very mucousy (sp?).

I've lost 2 lbs since the dr visit. Is this normal for some of you?

  4. Surgery April 4, 2011, felt like I was in a really bad car accident. However, today I feel like a million bucks, I do feel a little hungry. Is anyone else feeling this way?

Hi. My surgery was on the 5th. The first couple of days I didn't feel hungry at all. I did drink tons of Water, I thought I'd drown. lol. Right now though, I feel very hungry. Tomorrow is when I can start my blenderized diet. Can't wait! I'm hoping that I'll feel full with very little. The pain now comes and goes. I do get a pulling/slight burning sensation every once in awhile at the port entrance. I'm hoping that goes away. So far, today has been pretty good as far as the pain goes. It's getting better. Congrats on everyone's so far successful banding. Hope everyone has a speedy recovery. Good luck to those who have upcoming surgeries!

  5. Thank you all. I've been trying to walk around. My surgeon did call in a liquid Tylenol with Codeine. That doesn't seem to help much. The walking does help a little with gas. I don't know if it's to early to tell, but I think 2 of my incisions may be infected. They're very red and somewhat swollen. The other incisions look fine and don't hurt. I don't know if waiting it out is something I should do. Maybe I'm just being a bit paranoid?

  6. I'm only 1 day post-surgery and I had been feeling fine until this morning. I was released last night at 8pm. I haven't had any pain killers because it's all in pill form and drinking the crushed stuff causes me to cough and gag, when that happens, the pain is pretty bad. I did feel fine all night. I woke up this morning feeling okay but when I tried to move, it was excruciating. Getting out of bed took an insane amount of energy and even when I try to sit down, it hurts so bad. 2 of my incisions are seeping out a little blood. It's not constant, but I don't know if it's normal. I did call my surgeon but he isn't in yet. I was wondering if any of you have felt this bad right after surgery. Also, the pain is only coming from 2 incisions on my left side. Any info and/or opinions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  7. My 4/5 update: Not so great news

My type 1 diabetes decided to throw a monkey wrench into the situation overnight. I had a low blood sugar at 1:30 AM. I did my best to raise it without eating or drinking anything. Unfortunately, it spiked upwards. I left home at 4:30 am at 253..At 6:15 am at the hospital I was over 400. We tried to get it back down, but just not quickly enough. My surgery was canceled, and I probably will be rescheduled in a month or so. I guess the only bright thing about today is that I reached 20 lbs lost after my 2 week pre-op diet.

That does suck. Sorry to hear that. It's still going to happen though and I'm sure when it does, it'll go well.

My surgery happened at 1pm. I was initially supposed to stay overnight but it went so well that I was sent home. I don't feel great but I don't feel terrible. The gas pressure is a little uncomfortable. I asked the nurse if gas-x would help and she said nothing but walking around will help because it's not the "normal" kind of gas. I hear quite a few people say it in fact does help so I think I might try it. Wouldn't hurt right? I did have a massive headache that nothing was making it go away. Still have it which is why I'm awake at 4am. I hope everyone's elses surgery went as well as mine. Good luck to those upcoming surgeries!

  8. My surgery is at 2pm tomorrow, which will require me to stay overnight. Kind of a mini vacation for me since I have 3 kids at home. The hubby will have them all to himself. The thing I'm dreading most is the 2 week post op diet. I've never gone under so that makes me a little nervous too but mostly I'm excited. Good luck to all of you!!

  9. What is it exactly that we are not supposed to have, that shrinks our liver? Is it Carbs? Or Sugar? I am on day 4 of my pre-op diet, and Im doing it, Im just curious about why its necessary (not the liver shrinking part, I get that) Just the mechanics of it I guess? I like the sugar free Vitman Waters, but they have 1 carb per serving, does that make them bad? Or, why does my surgeon require 2 weeks of Protein Shakes, when others Dr.s let them have actual food? Im going to stick with the shakes because I want to do my best to do what the surgeon tells me too (after all, he will be cutting into my belly) but I was wondering if anyone knew why there was such a variance in what people have to do?

I understand your questions and was wondering the same thing. I'd like to know as well which of the two actually helps shrink the liver. If it's carbs, I'll cut them out all together, same as with the sugar.

  10. Hey! I bet you're nervous and excited huh? I know I am... this diet is kicking my butt! I ended up "cheating" somewhat yesterday, although my doctor said that the first week of the diet I can supplement with a high protein/low carb/fat meal here and there. I still felt guilty and it didn't taste good.

I'm definitely nervous and excited. I'm sure as it gets closer I'll be more nervous. Good luck with the diet...you're almost there!

  11. I use my meat injector to self fill all the time. I fill it when I need to and unfill it when I wanna party. Whaooo

I fill it with whatever I have on hand. In Nov. I had the garlic butter sauce for the turkey, so I just went ahead and used it. Why waste?

First I rub an ice cube on my port area, then I rub some oragel on it. Then I let my hubby inject me cause I just can't do it myself.

I do admit the needle is way big. One time I actually had to give myself one stitch to close the hole on my tummy. I used some dental floss.

The tip of needle the doctor uses for fills is bent. I did have to take the meat injector needle and bend it before I used it. I took it outside and pushed it down on the cement till it bent.

This self fill method is really working for me. For Christmas I filled it with rum sauce from my bread pudding.

    LOL, You're funny.
