Impressed with pre-op weight loss
Wow! Tomorrow will be day 7 of being on the pre-op diet and I have already lost 6 pounds! It makes me wonder if I could lose all my weight doing this, but probably not. If I had that kind of will power I wouldn't be fat in the first place lol. I have had to make some adjustments to my pre-op diet though. My body was being stubborn about going #2 with so much Protein and so little Fiber even though I drink more than 64oz of Water a day. I know most people don't have that problem, in fact most have the opposit happen to them, but my body is stupid so I had to start adding more apples and broccoli and that has done the trick for me. Hope that helps anyone else who may have the same problem. Gettng really excited about surgery. 11 more days and I can hardly wait. :bananapowerslide: :Banane01: :purplebananna: :not_ripe::Banane09: :Banane08::Banane27::Banane57: I decided to check out all the banana emoticons to see what is available and some of them were dirty bananas! lol Removed them before I posted this, but they did give me a good laugh.

Support System Failure - The garbage eaters in your life
I think I'm in a really lucky position with my situation. I'm divorced so no junk food eating husband to worry about and my kids are young, 2 & 5 years old so they have to eat what I give them and this will be great for getting them on the healthy bandwagon for a lifetime. I know I can't control what they eat when they're away from home, but hopefully they will learn to make healthy choices and never have to fight the battle of the bulge. They already impress me with with their love of fruit and most vegetables. Good luck with everything and just try to remember :bananapartyhat: :welldoneclap: :bananapartyhat:

my story, hypothyroidism, and failure
Its great that u finally found out what the problem is and getting treatment for it. Now hopefully your surgeon will apologize and start being helpful instead of so negative and if he doesn't then I hope you find a new surgeon with a better attitude. Sorry if I offend you but he sounds like an *******. Your doctor is supposed to be supportive and do what he can to help you not belittle and call you a liar. I don't think I could have held my tongue if he talked to me that way. Good luck. Hope if works out you and you reach your goals.

BIG Gripe!
I totally agree. that has pissed me off for a long time that designers think big people should wear ugly clothes.

Pre-op diet
Well I found out that what I thought was my stomach burning from hunger was actually burning from stomach acid. I took some mylanta and have felt great since. I'm sticking to my diet and not starving. Guess I better keep antacids on hand though. Probably has to do with my hiatal hernia. Feeling great today and looking forward to surgery!

A new comorbidity presents. Ack!
I came into the process without any problems and the more tests they did, the more they found lol. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and a hiatal hernia which I did not know I had. I knew I had arthritis from a broken bone as a kid and I already had sciatica because I have a slight case of scoliosis in my lower back so those were not new things or morbidity things and I have great blood pressure, no diabetes or anything. I agree, we are lucky to be healthy. And if they had never done the test for the sleep apnea it would not have mattered because it's only a small case and the machine does not help me at all. The hernia, on the other hand, I am glad they found and will repair so I can finally be relieve of acid reflux. Good luck!

Food Police
I agree with everyone here. I didn't want everyone knowing my business so I have only told a selected circle of friends and family making sure not to post anything to facebook as well. Everyone who I have told has given positive support so I think I picked the right people to share with.

Pre-op diet
My Pre-op diet is about the same as yours. I was told to do the slim fast diet. I didn't know what is in appetite suppressants and that was my biggest concern. It's not on my list of meds that I'm not allowed so I was curious. It probably does contain things that we shouldn't have before surgery. I have no idea why I am so hungry today. Maybe it's because of lack of sleep and my body may be trying to compensate for that with food? Thanks for your response.

Pre-op diet
I'm on the pre-op diet (getting banded July 28th) and I was curious if anyone took appetite supressants while on theirs to curb the hunger pains? I am starving! This is day 3 for me and the first 2 days were fine but today I am sooo hungry! So I was curious if anyone had tried this and if it worked.

How much did you have to lose before they would band you?
I haven't been told to lose any certain amount, but I go to the hospital tomorrow for pre-op. Guess if I do have to lose any they will tell me then. I have talked to several people from the support groups who said they didn't lose any during the pre-op diet and still did fine, so I'm not sure if my doctor requires a certain amount. I know he requires the pre-op diet to shrink your liver, but if you do the diet and didn't lose anything and he still does the surgery then I would guess there is no particular amount required by him. Hmmmm, you guys got me all curious now.

Any July 2011 Bandsters?
Going to the hospital today for my pre-op blood work. Hoping to see a drop on the scale while I'm there. Excitedly awaiting surgery on the 28th.

Pre-Op Liquid Diet problems!
I'm starting the liquid diet this week and so not looking forward to it. I have found though that I like the royal chocolate slim fast shakes when they're frozen and I use a can opener to remove the whole top of the can and eat it like ice cream. It tricks my mind into believing it's really ice cream and gets me by. Getting banded on July 28th!

Any July 2011 Bandsters?
Getting banded July 28th! it's been a long journey to get to this point after making the decision to go this route last summer. I started this process last October (had to wait 2 months to get an appointment with my general doctor for a referral) then had a 6 month supervised diet to complete and then had to wait another 2 months for the insurance to approve it. So after all that I am finally getting close to the end zone and can't wait! I wish it could have been done this week while I had the whole week off for July shutdown, but now thanks to my insurance, I will have to use additional vacation days later this month. oh well. it's worth it. SO EXCITED! I showed my children (3 and 6 years old) the lap band surgery video on youtube to help them understand what I am doing and why. They seemed to understand a little better after asking a lot questions during the video. i'm so glad they have an interest in medical things, don't get grossed out and ask a lot of questions. Makes this a little easier for all of us.

Surgery Scheduled! Excited and worried.
Finally! After starting this process 9 months ago, I have finally been scheduled for surgery. Now it's time to buckle down on the pre-op diet so that all can go as smoothly as possible. Why is it everytimg I start a diet my mind immediately tell me I'm starving? This is going to be hard. Any one else have that problem? Have any of you had the surgery and did not follow the pre-op diet or lost little to none on the pre-op diet? I am going to do my best to stick with it, but I am so worried that I don't have the will power. I'm also worried about having my hiatal henia repaired. I have no idea what to expect and if it will make the recovery process harder. I guess that's a question I need to remember to ask Dr. Mora.

Introduction
Hello all! My name is Sheri and I am 31 years old, single mother of 2. I have been a member on this site since October, but I have never posted anything. So here goes.... In October I have my first appointment with Dr. mora and started the 6 months weigh in deal. I completed that in April and have been waiting on insurance approval since then until yesterday. I finally got approved yesterday! (I called them weekly to get an answer, not good at waiting). So now all I am waiting for is a surgery date. Hoping it will be done before the end of this month. I will try to get a pic posted soon, I really want a good before & after pic for myself. I also want to use the before pic to help me stay focused on my goal and not become side tracked. I have wasted to many years (about 11 or twelve) being over weight and unhappy about my body. It's time to get healthy, enjoy the rest of my thirties and start dating. Good luck and best wishes to everyone on their weight loss journey!!! Sheri McRae
