    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

I get nothing but liquids. At least I can have sf pudding and sf jello lol. I also get diet coke but I may just quit my carbonated drink habit now so that it's not so hard after. I made some chicken bone broth to freeze so that I have that done and i need to start making my jello and pudding to store for my liquid diet but it can be so overwhelming.

    May 2019 support group

My RNY was done May 8th. No complications. They also repaired a hiatal hernia I had. I didn’t have any nausea or vomiting. I was able to drink right away. My incisions are nearly healed already. Liquid diet sucks. I’m sick of all the sweet crap. What I would give for everything to have more savory options. Soup is my savior. I’m still tired some. I’m thirsty ALL the time. And STARVING!! I can’t wait for puréed food!! Maybe 11 more days, I hope!

Bariatric Pal Store has a grouping of vitamins just for Bypassers. I usually have prescription and purchase the rest at Wally World.

    Anyone else use flinstones vitamins?

Flintstones vitamins are not really optimal for bariatric patients. Try looking in the store here on this site or online for vitamins formulated for people who have had weight loss surgery. Some are once a day, some are two or more- depending on the formula. You will also need calcium citrate for sure and possibly others depending on the vitamin you select and your own personal needs. Talk to your surgeon for specifics on your case. Good Luck!

  10. Neither my insurance company nor the surgeon required weight loss but I did lose 10 pounds over the course of 2 months after my consult and my surgeon was happy about it.

Thanks! That is encouraging. Congrats again on your achievement. I am switching up my exercise to see if that will help. I think it is just one of those things that will fix itself. It is just frustrating. Thanks for responding! Wish you continued success!

    Spicy foods

I started craving spicy food a few months after surgery, it’s weird my tolerance has gone way up.

    Alternative Pasta

My favorite is Cali’flour Foods Califlower and Yellow Lentil Pasta. Bought it on Amazon. It only comes in a penne but the taste and texture is most like real pasta. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Ancestry.Com and such Things

I did Ancestry. My mom also tested. It was accurate in terms of family matches. My mom matches as my mom. My dad didn't test but his younger sister and his elderly uncle both did. My aunt and great uncle are both close matches so my dad is clearly my dad. Ethnicity percentages are a little iffy and Ancestry changes them a lot with updates. Right now I have some French and Norwegian percentages that don't match with having a mom who is primarily German and Irish and a dad whose family was mostly British.

    April Sleevers

My surgery date was 04/25 & so far I'm only down 8lbs. No energy to exercise right now. Doctor said I should walk 1hr 5 days a week Sent from my SM-J727P using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I smoked years ago and quit using Nicoderm CQ. If I remember correctly it's a two month program. If you only smoke a pack every few days you could start out on step two and it would only take about a month to quit. It really helps calm your nerves while eliminating the habit.

    Gastric Bypass after Lap Band

I had my lap-band done in 2009. Weight loss starting off was great, I got down to 245 lbs. I have had a great deal of issues with gastric reflux, vomiting, other days can eat like a horse with no restrictions, I stopped getting fills in 2015, I have gained all but 10 lbs of my pre-surgery weight back, I also currently sleep under a CPAP machine but cannot use it as I should do to the gastric reflux and waking up as if I am choking on my own saliva and coughing horribly. I recently went to see about having a revision and my doctor informed me that I can have the revision but would have to wait 3 mths after removal of the lap-band to have the Roux en y procedure. Can anyone let me know about healing time with the lap-band removal, how long did it take for insurance approval (BCBS), and finally, the actual recovery time for the lap-band removal and the recovery of the GBS. I am a remote worker and was wondering if I would be able to do my job which I sit for 8hrs intermittently with standing. Thank you in advance for information!

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

Had a fun weekend out of town visiting friends and family. I did have less activity the past 2 days and I feel kind of guilty about it. I was pretty good with calories, under 900, which was my self appointed “vacation calories “. I did eat more carbs than I usually do. I’m headed back to the gym in the morning. #16. Physical contact was such a bonus, I got to hold a 4 week old baby. #17. No time for a leisurely bath today, maybe I’ll go to bed early and make time for that tonight. B side hungry question. No rhyme or reason, I simply have days where I feel like I’m white knuckling it, other days I’m not hungry at all.

is it possible to not lose??

Make sure you are drinking your water. The water is what helps flush the fat out of your system. Also make sure you're eating enough food that your body is not in starvation mode.

    Regained after GS

I remember telling myself I will never let myself gain this weight back, because it wasn’t that easy to lose. I told myself all I have to do is exercise and eat small portions. But gradually it became easier and easier to get the foodand the wine down and the exercise became non existent . I basically could eat anything. I totally blame myself because the food took over my life once again and it beat me. It’s a horrible feeling and I kick myself everyday!! Feeling defeated makes you turn to food even more. Ihave to get my head right . I’ve started exercising anddieting again. I will be going back to the surgeon to see what my options are.

    Insurance Approval

I have BCBS of IL with my school district as a high school teacher. There was no insurance requirement to wait any set number of months. However, my program requires 3 months of visits with surgeon, nutritionist, other dr releases, and medical exams. I started this process in Feburary with the bariatric seminar and have my final appointment on June 2. I have been scheduled for surgery either June 26 or July 2, depending on insurance approval.
