I was just banded yesterday, 05-05-09. I am STARVING and full of gas. How can I get rid of the gas and what can I do to make the hunger pains go away. I am on a protein shake diet until 05-26. I want to be successful, but I AM SO HUNGRY. PLEASE HELP, I don't know how to make my new tummy stop hurting or growling. I can't have broth and I don't know why.

Hi There, Do not give up! Keep up with the water and the protein shakes. Not sure why you can not have broth. That really was good to have. Also the Gas!!!!!! I feel like I am the QUEEN on the Free Air! I was banded on March 26th and I am still having a bit of trouble with the free air! It seems to start up in the shoulder or back, I just walked as much as I could tolerate and it got better and better, even six weeks later there is a little bit way down in my pelvic area but it is almost gone now. People try gas x but they all forget that this air is not in your intestine it is Free Air just floating anywhere it wants. It will go away! Call you Docs office about the liquids bet they will let you have broth! Good Luck, thetig

Wow !! I can't believe you can't have broth or jello. Your Dr is really strict. Try some sugar free popsicles, that might help a little.

I was banded on 3/30/09. I was allowed broth, SF popsicles, jello... The "free air" hurts! If you have a rocking chair, rock, rock, rock. Lay in your bed and "gently" roll a little from side to side. Walk, walk, walk... It does get better.

Thank you so much for posting. Yes my Dr. is VERY STRICT! I would love a SF popsicle, but he said it is NOT on the list and I can't have it. I have not been getting all of my protein and water in. I am trying really hard, but it is VERY hard to stomache the shake after so many days. My body has adjusted I think. I am not as hungry. I get a hunger pain at around 6:30ish. I make sure to drink some protein. I mixed carnation with my protein shake to try to get more bang for my buck. The walking, rocking, and rolling did help with the gas! Thank you for sharing your ideas.
