Secret Bander

Today I went out to lunch with my two best friends...I had said something to the one a few weeks ago along the lines of "what do you think about WLS?" And she ripped into it...didn't approve unless you were pretty much on life support, etc. So I dropped it. Today at lunch she said "You're not thinking about WLS are you?" And of course I lied..."oh NO! I was talking about my Dad!!!" Then I started to wonder if I CAN keep this a secret. If we go out to eat, will I be able to keep my secret????

I plan to avoid going out to eat until I know I can eat a small portion with no problems...as someone said here; you're not lying if you say you're dieting and just eating less.

LAP-BAND Patients

Hi, I just signed up for this website today, I got my lapband 9/30/08. I also have not told anyone about my banding, except 1 friend and my husband. I haven't told my coworkers or even my parents. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when the family gets together for Thanksgiving...

Never really understood the secrecy thing but respect people that have decided to. I just knew I was going to do fantastic and am so proud about my choice that if someone else doesn't like it, that is their problem. PLUS, it keeps me on track knowing that they know, ya know? lol

wow i at first told my all my every day aquaintences, even the really huge ppl that you know have though about it also were judgmental and unapproving so I went as if I decided not to do it. Now Im keeping it a secret also... I dont want to be looked at like wow she was that fat she needed surgery how lazy and nasty is that.. People tick me off on how close minded they our, now ppl always knew me to always work out really hard so hopefully they think wow she found the button that clicks..

I figure it's nobody's business but my own. I chose TO tell my friends and family and everyone has been VERY supportive, but if they weren't, well then they are the ones I just don't talk to about it. It's nothing I bring up in general conversation anyway. I have only lost 25 or so lbs. and alot of people I haven't seen in a while just kind of look at me and say "you really look good!" like they notice something different but they can't quite put their finger on exactly what. And I just smile graciously and say "Well Thanks!" LOL!!!

Thanks for all of your great comments! My friend is just not a fan. She knows someone who had the lap and had issues. Well, seemingly so does everyone else right? I'll just keep this little secret to myself. And eat soup. Lots of soup
