3 Days Post-Op

Woke up with another headache today. It must be the lack of food. I have had so few liquids, other than water and yet have gained 1.5 lbs. Guess my body is trying to hold on to everything it can and I'm in starvation mode? Or it could be from the gas still inside my body. I have been taking Gas-X and have had very little gas pain. I am going to work on getting more calories in today.

I am feeling good other than the headaches and am taking less of the pain medication that was prescribed to me by the dr. I am looking so forward to this next year and everything it has to offer. This time last year I was on the Medifast diet and lost 42 lbs. At my surgery date I had gained almost all of it back. I wish I would have gone ahead and had the lap band surgery last year instead of trying Medifast. That diet is too hard for me to stick to for the rest of my life.

You need protein shakes - lots of them. That should help with the headaches. I had them also the first day but as soon as I upped my protein intake, they went away. Good luck.

Congratulations on your surgery! I was told I HAD to consume 60-80g of protein each day. The first week they had to be clear. I chose the New Whey protein bullets (42g). I bought them at GNC. They are only 3 oz of fluid, so they are easy to get down. If you think they are too thick, then mix them with sugar free kool aid. You are still supposed to consume some calories. I may have gained weight at first, I don't know. I didn't have a scale, but at day 11 at my post op visit I had lost 15 lbs. Please start getting the protein calories in you so you don't get too weak.
