Insurance Approval

:thumbup:My insurance company called today to let me know that I have been approved for lap band surgery! Yipee!! My insurance company is going to pay for the entire procedure except for a $50.00 co pay.I have to get a barium swallow, EKG and some blood work to do before scheduling. The biggest obstacle now is coming up wit $2550.00 for the doctors enrollment fee! I may have to put the surgery off for a few months so I can have time to save for this fee. That is a bummer!

I am not sure what the program fee covers! I just called the surgeons office to double check because I am sure that they told me at one point but I took in so much information that day I cannot remember. The lady was out of the office so I will call her tomorrow for the specifics.

Where is Colorado are you from? I am from the Springs but am currently trapped in Virginia for my husbands job. I cant wait to go home!!

That seems strange that there is a separate fee from the surgery. It would seem like it would make more sense for the surgeon to make it one all inclusive charge so insurance doesn't get all twisted up.

I grew up in Cortez/Durango but spent about 10 years in Ft. Collins. I miss the mountains something fierce.

Wow that is a high enrollment fee. My doctor charges $500. above and beyond. Its for the aftercare I guess. The stuff that is considered non doc appt and non surgery. The stuff that insurance wont pay for, so they charge you. My total out of pocket is going to be $1135. Have you checked around with other doctors? Have you checked to see if your insurance pays for fills?

My Dr. doesn't have any enrollment fee. I had a $12.00 copay and $11.00 hospital stay that I had to pay due to my Insurance, but nothing to my Dr. He didn't even charge me for follow-ups.

It may be worth your money to travel further to a different Dr. That is a LOT of money!
