Anemia

HipsAndLipstick

So yesterday I had an appointment with my surgeon to get my result of all the preliminary test for surgery. Everything was normal except for my blood count due to low iron levels. My medical doctor had already told me this so I had been on iron supplements for about a month and also vitamin D. He recommended that I had blood work done again to see if those iron supplements had raise my iron counts. He said he's concerned because after surgery its going to lower even more and that might be a problem.

I have to back for the results of the blood work next Thursday and see where we go from there. I have to work on the getting those iron count up but my whole life I had anemia. I went to my medical doctor and asked for a hematologist referral and I will see him on Tuesday. Let see what can be done.

I had a low iron level before surgery, and now at 15 1/2 weeks post op I'm anemic. It's hard to go through each day feeling so damn tired and sluggish, but keep taking your iron supplements and try to make food choices rich in minerals. Vitamin C is supposed to help the body better absorb iron, so you may want to ask the doctor about combining the two. I take a prescription supplement called FeRiva, which is Iron, Biotin, Vitamin C, and Folic acid in one, and time released. Maybe something like that could help you. Anyway, best of luck with everything - you can get through this! :)

Oh, and on another note...are those your little girls in the picture? They are sooo GORGEOUS!!!!

Thank you darling! I will ask her for the FeRiva and see if it works for me. It does suck to be sleepy and tired everyday.

Yes those are my girls .. Thank you so much!!
