Gallbladder

So I started having increasing right side pains that would come and go. Didn't really pay much attention to it until getting ready for bed a few nights ago I was struck with such intense pain I was crying like a baby. It went from my right side to my chest to between my shoulder blades. I'm not a fan of my local ER the best one and the one my wls surgeon is at is 25 miles away (30mins if traffic is good) but I was willing to go local. My first thought was "omg ill feel better if I throw up!" We'll that didn't take long for that to happen but since I hadn't eaten in about 2 hrs I just dry heaved (ouch!) as soon as I convenced my husband lets go I'm dying it disappeared! So he then thought I was crazy. Called my doctor in the morning and a few test later my gallbladder is the culprit. Now yes it was an option to remove with wls surgery but my stupid ins wouldn't cover it because there wasn't a problem with it so now I have to have it out their paying. So Monday it is and I'm so ready because these sporadic attacks hurt!

Can you clarify? Insurance covered your WLS but wouldn't pay to have your GB removed and now that it needs to be they won't pay for it?

Or are you saying now that there is an issue with it they have to buck up and pay for it now?

I'm sorry you're having problems with the gallbladder. I tried to get my doctor to remove mine when he did the sleeve, but he said "no" unless I had a problem with it since not everyone has gallbladder problem after getting sleeved. Good luck with your surgery and I wish you a speedy recovery.

It's understandable that ins wouldn't pay to have it out if you weren't having issues with it. I will say you will feel sooooo much better once you get it out. Make sure you take it easy afterwards though. It took me a good two weeks before I started to feel better pain wise because I was lifting my son right after (instead of listening to the dr). Good luck!

Before you leave the hospital make sure they do an emezyne test. I had so many problems after getting my Gallbladder out it took me many time admitted to the hospital, home nurses, and 3 months to get over mine. There is a good chance you can get acute Pancreatitis. Then they found stones outside the gallbladder and when they went to get them they tore the bile duct. This was the worst surgery I have ever had. Child birth was better than this. This scared my family so bad it has taken me years to convience them to let me have another surgery (this is the one). I sure hope this one goes much easier. This is to inform you and not to scare you. Good luck, let me know how you are doing.

Oh no worries. Things went really well. Pain wasn't too bad compared to sleeve. I always have a bad time waking up and nausea but its day 4 since surgery and just sore so I think I'm on the road to recovery!
