blogs/blog-0230989001346859046.jpgHi everyone!

Well today I go for my pre-op and will have my surgery next week on Thursday, September 13, 2012. I'm a little scared because I am 51 years old; I'm not young anymore . I was just wondering on what is the most popular Protein Drink for everyone? I'm using Myofusion Probiotic Series with 24 grams of protein, 150 calories, Sugars 3.0 grams and Total Fat 2.0 grams per scoop. I’m having a really hard time finding one I can tolerate. Is there a better tasting one out there? PLEASE let me know.

Thank you!

I happen to like EAS AdvantEDGE Drink EAS® in French Vanilla which I can mix with sugar free syrups or puddings to change the taste a little. I like it chilled like it is. Normally I am not a vanilla fan but this pleases me. A lot of people like their chocolate and dark chocolate. (EAS = 17 grm protein) I don't mind Adkins dark chocolate fudge drink either.

EAS is very reasonable in price at Walmart. Can get similar packs at Safeway often costing $3 more per item. Haven't priced them at King Soopers but know they sell them, too.

I just tried Premier chocolate the other day. Tasted okay but I liked the EAS better. It has 30 grams protein. It's available at costco and Sam's club. I'm not a member of either.

I use isopure low carb chocolate (25 grams protein), and I have a stash of Premiere Protein pre-made shakes (30 grams of protein) for a quick grab and go. This stage will go by quickly... you are going to do great! There are people older than you who have already reported great success.

I'm a fan of muscle milk, vanilla creme and the chocolate flavor. I put sugar free chai powder in the vanilla for a replacement to my usual "soy chai latte" from starbucks. The chai powder I have also has 2g protein per serviing, so that's just a little boost. The muscle milk has 20g protein per serving and I think that it tastes great. Very satisfying and it does fill me up.

I am also 51 and had my surgery on July 17 and I am one happy camper!!! I just wish I had done it sooner so please dont worry. Age is only a number. I am trying to eat my protein more than drinking it but having said that I do like the EAS and the 20g SlimFast. I drink it over ice because it thins it out but the taste is great. I also make a smoothie every morning with Silk Fruit drink and frozen fruit (no sugar added). It lasts me all morning but it works for me. My sleeve buddy at work cant tolerate dairy now so she drinks a protein lemonade mix which is really pretty good. I have found I cannot tolerate any of the protein shots/drinks/jellos that are whey based. I love cottage cheese and am hoping to get a dehydrater and make my own jerky which is almost pure protein. The store stuff is really good but too much sodium.

Okay I'll stop my long list here! lol You really just have to figure out what works for you. I started trying stuff months before my actual surgery. Good luck and great journey!!!
