Working On Working Out

I'm ready to start working out. I have done little bits of walking since being sleeved 8 months ago and that's about it. I currently struggle to get in 800 calories a day and I worry I don't get enough to sustain me through work outs. Excuse. I really want to walk my dogs - but I have 3 and can only walk one at a time...excuse, I know. Take each one for a short walk, right? I like riding my bike but not in the wind. Major excuse. My 24 hour gym is boring (is it supposed to be fun?). Excuse. HELP!! Encouragement and accountability needed, please apply within...

you are going to have to find something you enjoy doing or your not going to stick with it. i actually enjoy the elliptical, i have some awesome music i only listen to while working out, or i go to the gym while Law and Order SVU is on, and i can pedal for an hour without even realizing. There is Zumba, swimming, do you have any girlfriends that would walk and talk with you? buy a Wii or Xbox, they have all kinds of workout games that are fun, you can even buy them used at your local gaming store. I work out because to me the shape i want is worth the exercise. i want to be toned and ripped as much as i can on my year anniversary when they take my picture again.

Good luck finding something that works for you

thank you fluffylibra30 for your ideas. I'm also struggling to find time and motivation to work out. I'm almost 11 wks out and only lost 30lbs so far, likely because I don't exercise. it's so

hard for me

Me, you just have to find something that you like and do it. I second Fluffy's suggestion to load some good music on your phone or iPod and only listen to that music when you're working out. I'm fairly competitive, so that helps me as well.

Favoredone posted about a month ago that she did 7 miles on the exercise bike on her FIRST visit to the gym. That motivated me to try to up my mileage during my 30 minute a day ride...and it worked. I'm now consistently hitting the 7 mile mark, so I'm now working on getting to 7.5 miles in 30 minutes.

I like the idea of watching a tv show, too. I haven't tried that one, but it sounds like a great idea! :)

I LOVE to walk and talk but can't find anyone who will do it consistently with me and most of the time of the 5 people I have none can go which ticks me off! LOL Last night my hubby and I took the dogs through the park and I loved it - so did they! But he works nights and won't consistently walk with me either. I take what I can get with everyone, it just isn't much. I was thinking the TV thing might work, we don't have cable so if I can watch my shows when they are on instead of the next day on the internet it might be me going!
