Gained & Freaking Out

I can't believe that when I weighted today I had gained 2.4lbs. OMG!! what have I done? I went back over everything I have eaten the past 3 days (thank goodness for www.myfitnesspal.com) being able to track every ounce I put in my mouth. Exercise could be more (walk a block a day and use punching bag every other day for 20 minutes) but don't want to over due and end up in hospital, I just can't figure this out.

Where did I fail my sleeve? Has it stretched out, am I eating to much, not exercising enough, what on earth did I do or not do to gain weight?

I am so depressed over this and ready to go back to just liquids again. I can't fail at this too I have failed at so many things before and I just can't fail at this to many people waiting for me to fail to say I told you so.

Has anyone out there gained in the first 5 weeks after surgery?

char60 don't fall apart over that small gain. i could come from a number of things like water weight, stress etc.... trust me alot of us have those small gains here and there. i would just keep to your regular routine and keep tracking your food and liquid intake. you also could be gaining muscle from your workouts.

Thank you, I hope that is all it is. I just am so afraid of failing. I was feeling pretty good until today and have had a good out look

since surgery. It is amazing how those 2 little pounds can freak a person out and send them over the edge. Just need to remember my motto (step by step day by day with Jesus is all I pray).

Thank you again for the words of encouragement

It's ok, just breeeeaaathe.......and stop weighing so often. You know how hormones can make weight fluctuate. Like big daddy said...muscle gain can do that too. Muscle weighs more than fat, but more muscle burns more fat, so no worries. 43-45 lbs in 5 weeks is AWESOME. Do yourself a favor. Give the scale a rest. You're doing great!

Well muscle doesn't weigh more than fat. That is a myth but the rest of the advice is good. focus on the long run such as your monthly weight loss. See what those numbers tell you.

I am pre sleeve but I was told to always weigh in the a m when I have nothing, including liquids in my stomach. Just think one gallon of milk weighs like eight lbs. So if you are drinking water or something else and then weighing your self that counts.

If you know you are doing what is right it is just a mind/scale thing getting to you.

always weigh in the AM, after you go to the bathroom and before you drink anything - however, remember, a woman's body weight can change from day to day by around 9 lbs just based on water retention.

Muscle mass the same size as a fat mass does weigh more. 10 lbs of fat takes up more room than 10 lbs of muscle.

Don't weigh every day. I'm pushing myself to actually do away with my scale for the first month. Its hard, but that's what I'm wanting to do!

This has been great I love all the helpful advice and have decided to weight only once a week NOT EVERYDAY. I should have taken the time to think it through (gaining) I have been exercising a lot and measurements are changing even with NO WEIGHT LOSS. Thank you all so much.

I am going thru the same thing, freaking out because I have gained 2 lbs. I am presently on soft foods and was told that sometimes the transition from liquids to solids can do that. I hope so because I too track everything I put in my mouth and believe me I am not eating much. Keep up the good work and stay off the scale.
