Concern -- that I am not filled enough!

I have been reading and researching the entire Lap Band system for 2 years. All the literature I have read warns you have having your band too tight. I believe that is stuck in my head and that’s why when I go to get my fills I am so nerves.

I went to get a fill on August 2, 2011. I don’t feel any different than the day before I went to the appointment. I can almost eat anything but; I just make myself stop because I really want this to work. I can guzzle water after a workout better than before. I feel as if I have had a un-fill; I am scared that my band may not be in the correct place. I have so many things running in my head. Not to mention that I have gain 3 lbs since my fill. I want to call the Doctor but I don’t want to be panic for no reason. I am not in pain, I can eat and I am gaining weight.

I walk 3 miles a day, workout 4 times a week, I eat very small portion only because I use the portion plates. I just don’t know what direction to go.

I don't know how much is in my band... what size is my band.. and my Doctor don't seem to be open to discussing those questions.

Any advice?

I think perhaps you are not in the green zone. Sometimes it takes a few fills to get to that point. I was banded 12/9/2010 and I'm just getting to the green zone. I'm not quite there, I should be with a fill next week. I think what you are going through is referred to as bandster hell. You have the band but it doesn't seem to be doing much for you. I have been there. I totally understand. Patience is the key in this situation. Just continue to watch what you eat and exercise. You will be at the right fill level soon enough. Good Luck toyou!

YOUR DOCTOR SHOULD BE OPEN TO DISCUSS ANYTHING YOU WANT TO DISCUSS. THE SIZE OF YOUR BAND SHOULD BE NO SECRET.. I TOO AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY BAND. IM NOT SURE IF MINE IS TOO TIGHT OR TOO LOOSE. SOMETIMES I CAN EAT AND OTHER TIMES I THROW UP EVERYTHING I TRY TO EAT.. IDK

After my surgery my doctor could never tell me what size band I had also. If you have Allergan Lapband the band is registered. Check out lapband.com and there is a 1-800 no. you call it and give them the date you had your surgery, the surgeon and some other info they will send you a card and on the card all the info is on it. The card is also supposed to be good for restaurant discounts.

Ive been over-filled due to MY choice and it was horrible. I couldnt eat or drink before 1 or 2 pm and I could barely get down most foods. I would throw up 4-5 x a week. Its just not worth it. I had fluid taken out. I told the doc I wanted my band 1/2 filled. He said that is where most lapbanders live. If your band is a 9 or 10 cc band that means you may be comfortable at 5 cc's. You need to find out where you are. I, too, can eat whatever I want. Sooooooo...I restrict myself. I realize I will be on this diet for the rest of my life. I must make good choices for myself. Ive been banded almost a year now and I have said the same thing on many people's posts. If you are extremely overweight - you will lose weight quickly just by cutting calories and walking. If you are like me and only had 50-60 lbs to lose to beging with it is MUCH harder. Ive only lost 45 lbs now. Losing the final 15 is ridiculously hard!!!! The band helps me maybe 15%. The other 85% is diet and exercise.

Thanks all. Kelly my goal was to lose 75 lbs I am 5"8.. I work out so hard and to weight myself in see the numbers go up... Oh its hurts my heart. I mean I feel no restriction, I don't want to throw up everthing I eat. But I do want to feels some restriction from this million dollar equipment. LOL

Gaining weight is not an options.

My dr used to always as me..can you eat a hot dog and a bun? if so you need a fill. I always laughed because I don't eat bread! But basically you want to be full for a full 4 hours on 3/4 to 1 cup of food. I am very fortunate that I actually get the hiccups when I am eating and that tells me I am full. As soon as I hiccup that is my last bite. It could be a 1/2, 3/4 or a cup..whatever it is I stop and I am full until the next meal. The worse thing you do is like Kelly said is get an over fill. That is the worst feeling ever!! I wish you the very best!
