3rd Fill is Today

Soooo, I'm getting a bit discouraged. They unfilled what they put in last time. And, I gained back the weight I lost. Of course, I realize that it is all water weight I lost and gained back, but that means I'm still at a standstill. I know my magic number should lie between 6.5 cc (where I can eat anything) and 7.5 ccs (where I can't drink anything). I yearn for the day I can feel restriction. Sometimes, I feel it and sometimes I don't. I can still eat bread and all of the things I shouldn't be able to eat and that actually makes me sad. i need to know something will get stuck if I eat it so I won't WANT it. I'm still working through the food issues, but it makes it harder when you can still have what you probably shouldn't be eating. Eeeeeek! When I try to measure out my food, I am STARVING after just the 4 ounces of protein and half a cup of veggies. How much in your band did it take to reach your "sweet spot"? What foods can't you have and how much can you eat?

LAP-BAND Patients

I have had 2 fills now and Im at 4.5 ccs. I feel restriction, finally. Sometimes I am able to eat way more than 1/4 c food. Other times I take a few bites, it gets stuck, I slime and sometimes I need to throw up. For the previous 2 months I was eating whatever I wanted and still gaining weight. Not 1 pound lost. Now, since my second fill, Im losing very slowly. I think I may have lost 3 pounds so far. I believe after my next fill I will be where I should be. Right now I know I cant eat bread, so I dont. But I know what you are saying. Prior to this most recent fill...I was eating whatever. Now I cant and its ok. This is a much more slow process than I was understanding it to be. Doc said I can expect to lose maybe 1 pound a week, maybe less. Jeeeezzzzz....

We arent supposed to eat bread because it goes straight through the band- it isnt a "getting stuck" issue. We aren't supposed to eat anything white (i.e- white bread, white rice, white pasta...) and we aren't supposed to eat anything that starts dissolving in our mouths (like bread does when we eat it- gets all moist and everything)

You have to remember that the band isnt going to do the work for us- it's going to help us (once we get to our own personal "sweet spot")-- but we have to respect it- we have to know what we SHOULD and SHOULD not eat, not just what we "CAN" and "CAN'T" eat. It's a new challenege every day! I wish you the best of luck!!
