Any Regrets?

I had been talking to a couple of people, telling them I was in the process of getting the lap band surgery and I'm getting a lot of, "Are you sure you want to do that?", "isn't there something else you can do besides surgery?", "I'm really scare for you." I'm just curious of the people on here who have had the surgery do you regret getting it, if you were asked to do it again tomorrow would you do it? This is something that I feel I am ready for and need to do this for me, so I am going to do it. It's my decision and I have researched it on-line, bought books, and all that and I feel this is the best option for me. I was just curious if anyone had any regrets. Thanks for any advice and have a great day!! ;)

My only reget is that I didnt do it sooner. One of the best things I have ever done. So happy with the new 94 pound lighter me. Had my surgery done May 09. Down from 22/24 to 14 clothes. Life is good. It is well worth it.

I agree with NewMichelle...only regret is I didn't do it sooner!!!! This was by far the best decision I have ever made in my life (besides getting married and having my son). I was banded 11/23/9 and have lost 105 lbs. I am not saying it is easy but it is so so worth it!! There is not a day that I don't thank god for allowing me to have made this decision!! Life is wonderful!!!!

You will find that people will try to talk you out of it but you have to make up your own mind. Others who have not had the procedure do not understand where you are and what you are going thru (the struggles and so forth). I honestly think that they don't want to see you have "a surgery" in general but they want you to "diet and feel better". It is just not to go under a knife..if you know what I am saying. They are just worried about you. If they are true friends and explain to them that you have done your research thoroghly and this is exactly what you want to do..your mind is set...ask them to support you...regardless of their decision..you go forward! You will be so happy! It will be the BEST decision you will have ever made!! I wish you the very best!

Finally free is how I feel. I had surgery June 17th, 2009. Today, I am happy and I am free. Free from the feeling of "why am I a success at every part of my life but a complete failure at weightloss" "why can't I break this addiction". Now--I am in the pictures of my latest family vacation--not hiding behind the camera. My profile picture on Facebook is a picture of me--not my beautiful little girl. Any regrets??? Absolutely not. Good luck to you and remember that only you can know what is best for you to do. I'm sure everyone means well--but ultimately you will be the one to have to make the decision FOR YOU not for anyone else. It ISN'T the right thing for everyone...but if it's right for you--go for it and don't look back.

My only regret: not doing this sooner. I have never felt so healthy, happy and hopeful in my entire adult life.

Good luck and God bless..............

I'm not sure if I would have been in the right place mentally for it sooner, but I certainly don't regret having it done now. It is hard work, but this makes my goals attainable! Make sure you research it well and are prepared for your new lifestyle. Other than that, go for it!

Banded 6/21 and I was VERY Scared and skeptical at first. I have no regrets! I have to say it really isn't that hard!! The most difficult part for me was the week after surgery. There is a lot of swelling and restriction and I thought I would NEVER be able to eat again "normally". Now 4 weeks out I am 22 pounds lighter and feeling good!! I have been putting on weight steadily since having my daughter 8 years ago. I weighed at the start of this process what I weighed nine month pregnant!! No matter what I did I could not loose weight, this is the first time in years I am successfully losing weight and I don't feel deprived! I didn't tell people becasue I knew I would get that negativity!

I WAS BANDED ON JUNE 8 2010. I HAVE LOST 50 POUNDS AND FEELING GOOD. I CAN NOT SAY IT IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. IF I COULD GO BACK AND DO IT AGAIN. I PROBABLE WOULD. THERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU HAVE TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION. LOOK AT EVERYTHING AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND. DON'T LISTEN TO OTHER PEOPLE.

Absolutely THE best thing I EVER did for myself! I researched and kept putting it off for 5 yrs, letting everyone from my mother to boyfriends talk me out of it. I finally had had enough of yoyo dieting and being uncomfortable in my own body. June 09 I made my first appointment a little scared and skeptical, I went through the 6 month process my insurance requires and 12/18 I was banded...7 months later and down 60lbs it's 100% absolutely THE BEST thing I could have EVER done for myself.
