Finally First Fill!

Hey everyone! I had my first fill today.

It was pretty easy for the most part, a little (ouch:ohmy:) pinch and it was all over. I drank a little barium and watched it go down slowly through the band! He said he put in 4.8cc's. I did not eat breakfast today as per their instructions and I was hoping this fill would take away these HUNGER pains but it didn't so I will have a muscle milk later. I am really hoping this helps with more weight loss. I have been fluctuating between 19 - 24 pounds loss since starting the pre op diet. My doctor wants me to go for another fill on August 11th!

It was interesting in the waiting room there were woman there that were not losing weight from the band. It was a bit discouraging. Listening to their stories I wonder if it was more of their own issues than the band or the doctor. Well I am staying focused and I have to get my butt out walking more. I will make every excuse in the world not to work out and I have to stop!! ;)

Congrats on getting through your first fill :-). Don't let the "I cant do it'ers" get to you -- feed off of their issues to learn success. There was a lady at support group the other night that blamed the weather, the band, her family. Would not take any accountability. I think that is the best thing to take away from this -- its mostly you. We can support and your band is a piece, but the rest is your heart, head (and stomach ok).

I think my surgeon said it could take 3 or 4 fills before hitting the sweet spot. I just had my second and I'm feeling a little over-sweet actually, but time will tell.

Have a great day!

What does the sweet spot mean? This term never came up in my journey. Thanks for clarity!!

I think I'm feeling the same way. I am not loosing the weight as quickly as i thought i would. I do an hour of cardio everyday and I'm only down 17 pounds! i can't wait for my first fill on 8/13....it is a bit discouraging. but i'm not going to give up. I wanted to be down 40-50 pounds by sept 12, which is when i go on vaca...tha't not gonna happen...

Glad for your first fill and thanks for sharing the experience. I am just 6 days after surgery and saw my doctor today. I'll see him again in 4 weeks and he said we would talk about first fill then . . . I am getting hungry, but can add in some foods on days 8 - 14, then add in cottage cheese, shredded chicken, and tuna after that, so hopefully that will help. Keep up the good work!

Glad you "survived" your first fill!! You may or may not feel any restriction from it right away but it may take a couple of days and then bam..a little restriction. As Sandradee said it may take 3-4 fills before you hit the sweet spot. Are you on a special plan for the next few days? I always have to do 2 days clear liquids, 2 days protein shakes, 2 days mushies and then regular foods? So it takes me almost a week to determine how the fill really is going to affect me.

For Michelle..sweet spot or 'green zone" is when you are at the right restriction. You are not hungry in between meals (4-5 hours) and you are still losing weight.

Take care everyone..

Hey Congrat!!!!!!

I probably was to nervous to feel anything.....I go back for a 2nd fill on August 17. I can not wait tio start droping more lbs myself......

I really wish I could lose about 10 to 15 more by my birthday October 6, I will be 30. I would love to be looking sexy around that time...lol.....

Keep up the good work, and continue to encourage yourself...Its hard not to play into what you hear other people do or what they are not gettiing, but we don't know there full story....So keep the faith!!!!
