7/4/10 Day 3`

Today I feel like I have a fever. I don't have a lot of pain, but some. My throat is still swollen and it bothers me that I feel like there is something in my mouth that I can't get out...but i hope it will get better. I will spend the day mostly in bed resting and try to walk once an hour for a few minutes. I 'm not in terrible pain mostly tenderness and the swelling are bothersome. I don't have a thermometer but I feel hot. I'll try popcicles and rest for a few more hours see if I can enjoy this holiday atleast a little. I'm fighting the urge to sleep and sleep. I wonder if it's the pain meds that make me feel so tired?

Believe it or not, the pain meds are not only making you want to sleep, they are probably making you groggy. Stop the pain meds and take some Tylenol and get out of bed. My suggestion is sit in the living room or where ever you have a TV and everytime a commercial comes on, walk back and forth until your show starts again. The only way you are going to feel better is to walk, walk, walk.

You will be very happy in a few days when you are not in so much pain. I was fortunate that I was only "laid up" 1 day, but I know the getting up and walking did the trick for me. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the advice...I do believe the pain meds are only making me sleepy. I feel pretty good right now only it sucks to smell hot dogs/hamburgers and know I only have broth and water. I know it's a mental stage of adjsutment I must endure...and I will...but I do admit I'm craving chips and dip. I know that each day will get easier.
