16 days until pre-op diet

I have 16 more days until my one week pre-op diet. I am getting so close and so nervous. I start pre-op diet on the 5th, I have pre-op testing on the 5th and band date is the 12th.

I am officially down 10.5 pounds. I have slowed down quite a bit. At least I am not gaining. Of course all scales are different.

I found in the grocery store (Kroger) in the health food section a wide selection of pureed soups in cartons with screw on caps. There were I think about 10 different varieties. They are a little pricey since they are organic but I may have to give it a whirl. I plan on making homemade chicken noodle soup and puree it and then strain it. Nothing is better than homemade. I also thought about doing the same for vegetable.

I have designated a shelf in the fridge for just me. I have one whole cabinet that is just for my stuff so my mongrel family doesn't dip into it. I drank the Special K protein water, pink lemonade and it was pretty good. It has 5g of protein and 5g of fiber. Can't beat that. I am stocking up when they go on sale. They are a little pricey too. I think it was $4.29 for a box of 7 packets. That is 61 cents a bottle of water. Not bad if you think about it. Not any worse then a soft drink but certainly healthier.

I am one step closer to my new life...:)

Right on, sounds like your going at it the right way, I'm 6 days post op now and down 39 from the start of my pre op diet. my surgeon had me do 2 weeks pre op but i added 3 weeks prior to that a daily intake of 800 to 1000 cal a day, consisting of 2 meal replacement shakes and a light high protein dinner at night with my wife. i did this on my own and am so glad its making the rest so much easier. i have seen people while they are waiting for the date or pending confirmation just start pilling it on thinking they would be eating their last meal each and every day so they better enjoy it. wait that was me 2 years ago while dragging my feet and postponing only to gain another 23 pounds during that nearly 2 year period. so i guess when i got my head screwed on right i decided to do it the right way this time. Best of luck to you and keep up the good work , sound like you have a great support system all ready in place.:w00t:weight.png

My blender was a huge help during the pre & post-op diet phases. I found many great recipes for protein shakes that made things interesting. The first few days are the hardest, and yes...I cheated on days 1,2 and 3 for the pre-op. I actually became light headed and fell down on day 2. The best thing to do is start early controlling your portions and getting into the routine of less calories. I went on a week cruise with family and started the diet my first day off the boat. Huge mistake. It was complete withdrawal with headaches and grouchiness. Be strong and fair to yourself. This is not easy, but not impossible. Don't panic and take each day at a time. Good luck!
