Only one "good fill" ??

I had my surgery in Mexico ~four weeks ago and had my first post-opp visit with my US Bariatric doc yesterday. I'm having my first fill in May. Well...more like my one and only fill. He says he will give me "one good fill" of 9cc (band is 10cc). Has anyone heard of doc doing fills this way? From what I read, everyone gets many little fills. He says he's making the band do what is suppose to do and he does this with all his LAP-BAND® patients. I'm contacting my surgeon in MX to discuss but wanted to see if anyone had their fills done this way. Thanks!

I have never heard of any doctor doing this. It would really scare me having so much at one time. I had my 1st fill of 2.5 cc's and I had to go back and have .5 ccs removed and still had trouble. The nurse wanted me to come back and have more removed but I did not. I was unable to eat or drink for 4 days until the .5 cc's was removed. Be careful.

Everyone's anatomy is so different. I have a 10cc band and am at 5.4cc. If they bring me up to 6cc it closes off so much that I can't even drink water. Putting in 9cc from the get go sounds very irresponsible to me. I don't think I would go back to a Dr. who thought that was a good way to do it.

Really Scary and sounds dangerous, get a second opinion. All of us get the fills gradually from what I have read, you could have reflux, vomitting, malnutrition to name a few problems!

wow i have been complaining about my 3 little fills..since i still dont have much restrcition. BUT i think having 9CC injected all at once is EXTREME.maybe you could talk to the otehr people your surgeon has done this to. But you need to remember that everyone is different.. so people find their sweet spot with onlt 3CC or 4 CC, others need more (like me). But if in my next fill my surgeon told me he planned to place 4 cc all at once i would refusse. I want to loose the weight, but i want to do it the healthy way.

Good luck and take it easy.

Hi Bamagirl64. I have my surgery 3 days ago. I am super sore and have had slight fever on and off. Is this normal? Did you have any fever after your surgery. I had my surgery in Mexico with Dr. Rod as well. He was great ! His staff were friendly and really caring. I had great expierence while I was there. I am just a bit worried about the fever going up and down. I was told I need to get my first fill in 4-6 weeks. It sounds a bit extream to me that a Dr wants to fill that much. However, that is an American Dr for ya. They are a bit extream in my opion. That is why I have not went to the ER for my fever yet. I do not want to risk them wanting to take my band out. I hope all works out of you.
