I really don't know what a good fill is but I am assuming I now have a good fill. After this past month I was beginning to wonder if Lapband was for me or not. I am very happy with my weight loss. I could not do it all on my own. I am now down 62 pounds and it will be one year 2/17/11. Everytime I got fills I was very sick and he had to remove the fill. I went three different times. This last time he put in . 5 cc and then I had to go back and he removed half of it. I am at 4.75 in a 11 cc band. Now that the swelling has finally went down. Which took almost 3 weeks I can finally eat a little something. I now eat 3-5 baby bites of something and I am full. I guess this is what they mean by the perfect fill. I am going the gym 5-6 days a week also. Hopefully I will be losing more weight. So if there is anyone that has been discouraged from there band just keep trying. I am proof, it took me almost a year before I got here.

I'm glad to hear other people with the same issue as I have. It seems every time I get a fill I swell so much nothing goes down. I just had another fill 3 weeks ago and I am finally able to get a few bites in then I am in pain. My doctor did remove some but left in .25cc's. All I could get down for two weeks was a bottle of water but it would take all day to get that in me. Now that I can only eat a few bites at a sitting I was guessing this is what they call a good fill. I still don't like the pain that goes along with the eating but if I am losing weight I am happy. It just really makes it hard to have energy to work out.
  3. I had my surgery February 17, 2010 and every time I go and get a fill I have to go get it taken out. It always is to much and all I do is throw up. I just got a fill again over a week ago on Monday and today was the 1st day I was able to eat anything. I got down a pack of cream of wheat. Even water was hard to get in. It would take me a whole day before I get a whole bottle of water down. I called the doctor after my fill on Monday and he removed what he put in then I called him again this past Monday to let him know that I am still unable to eat. He said I was still swollen from the fill but as long as I am getting water in I am fine but I could come in and see him. I told him I would give it until today because that would be seven days since he removed the fill he put in. (I have a 11cc band and I am at 4.5) The swelling should be down within a week but if I did not get anything to eat in me I wanted him to do in xray to see what was going on. I fell the same way as you do about not liking the band. I just think it is because of getting sick and slimming but give it a little more time to see what happens. I have lost 61 pounds to date and I would of never did that on my own. Take care.

Best of luck to you. I still go out and have not had a beer in almost a year. I am not much of a drinker either but I did and still do enjoy going out on Saturday to hang out with friends and shoot pool. I used to drink a beer but now I drank grape vodka with sugar free red bull. Not a good mix but just can't handle the straight vodka. I still do occasionaly go out to my favorite restaurant but I carry my card and usually order of the kids menu or just order an appitizer. Good luck again. You will be so much happier once the weight starts coming off.

I had my lapband surgery February 17, 2010. I have now lost 61 pounds and very happy. I still have 67 pounds to go to be at my goal weight. It seems every time I go for a fill I end of very sick. My band holds 11 cc's. I am now at 4.5 cc's. I went in August and had 1CC put in. I had to go back both Saturday and Sunday and have it removed. I was throwing up every 15 minutes then once he removed some on Saturday I would throw up every hour. Then on Sunday he took it out. I just went back again on Monday, January 17, 2011 for a fill. He only put in .5 cc's. At his office a drank a half bottle of water and was fine. I went home and was fine until later that night. Could not eat soup. On Tuesday every hour I was throwing up again. Went back on Wednesday and doctor removed what he put in and stated that I was swollen. I drank some water in his office. It is now Monday and I can only get a little bit of water in me. All I have eaten this week was 3 raviolos. I have tried everything from soups to ice cream and I eat two bites and either get sick or have the horrible chest pains like it is stuck. I was able to take my vitamins on Saturday but yesterday I threw them back up. I also got a full bottle of water in yesterday. I have lost 11 pounds in one week. I love losing the pounds but I don't think this is right at all. Does anyone else experience these issues? I am calling the doctor today and see if he can do an xray or something to figure out what is going on. Thank you so much for reading. Kathy
  6. I only have 5 cc's in my band and every time my doctor gives me a fill I have to go back and get it taken out. I just got another 1/2 cc yesterday which took me to the 5cc's and was fine yesterday but now today I can't even get water down. My doctor is also very great. Last time he met me on a Saturday and Sunday to remove the fill since I was so sick.
  7. I really think that I need a smaller fill. Every time I go for a fill I have to go back and get it taken out because of getting sick. He usually puts in 1cc. The last time I had a fill was 8/27/10 and he had to take it out the following two days. Yesterday I got .5cc and felt fine. I drank water in his office. Now today I have only drank two sips of water and have already gotten sick three times. I am so frustrated because I am not losing but I think next time I will ask him to only put in a small amount.
  8. As I stated I plan on having my fluid taken out before my cruise. I also have a great doctor and he is one of the top MD doctors for lapband and he has stated it is very safe to do this. When I go on vacation I do not want to be sick which seems to happen everytime I eat lately and I do not gorge. I eat very slow and small small portions.
  9. You can go to your doctor and get all the fluid taken out of your band then you will be able to eat. Just be careful not to eat to much to gain weight back. I am going on a cruise and this is what I am doing. I want to be able to enjoy myself and have fun without getting stuck.
  10. Why did the insurance company refuse to pay? You can't say it is medically necessary? That is what happened to me with my insurance but then I got lucky and my company switched insurance companies and the new insurance paid. Good luck to you!

I feel the same way, I sip instead of my usual drinking. I have been at 27 since Feb also. It is very frustrating. Good luck

I had lapband back on February 17th. It was very quick and I had not seen the Nutritionist for over a year. Does anyone know the amount of protein you should have everyday? Also how often do you take your vitamins and what vitamins do you take? Thank you very much:crying:
