Would like some advice....

I was banded on Sept. 18th 2009 and I've only lost 30 lbs since then....It's coming off very slow...but that is also my fault as well. I've only recently starting exercising on a regular basis....and I've eaten a lot of foods that I know I should stay away from...(old habits die hard)!!! So I'm asking for advice from you guys....what has been the best thing that you've done to help you lose the weight quicker....is it Restricting Calories, Carbs, lot's of exercise and water, lot's of protien....Whatever it is, I'd like to know. I went to my doctor a couple weeks ago and he told me that I was doing 'good' but not 'great'.....Spring time is coming and then soon it will be Summer....I really want to be a lot thinner by then. I'm not going up in weight but rather just maintaining. I'd appreciate any advice that you guys will give me. I love reading all of your blogs and hearing everyone's success. This website Rocks!!! Thanks guys.

Woman the best kept secret is simple common knowledge. Burn more than you eat. If you can add in some exercise be it yoga, hiking, elliptical, bike whatever you will see results. Also as far as food goes Protein first. Get in those protein shakes in the morning... it really helps.. Are you keeping up with your fills? Feelin much restriction? Remember that the band must b played with to find your sweet stpot. Don't worry you will be there soon:)!!

I agree with Jadeite..are you feeling any restriction? If not, you probably need to get a fill. I walk a lot so that helps me quite a bit. Eat 60-80 grams of protein..always make sure you eat it first..if you have room for anything else..then eat your veggies and then move on to other stuff (if you have room). I start everyday off with a protein shake. I was banded on 11/23/9 and have lost 62.4 lbs so far. I have 6ccs in a 10cc band.

I'm new at this...banded 1/27. I have been having a slow time of things, so I really kicked up the exercise. Also, I will get a fill on Monday. I was doing fine until about Saturday, now I eat and I'm only satisfied for about 2 hours. Obviously, if we could do this being hungry, we would have done it already.

Like Jadeite & finally say, work with your band! Good luck!!

I recommend use the 65% of heart rate rule for exercise, if you are exercising at 65% of your heart rate this is considered the fat burn type of exercising. Not cardio (cardio is 80%) so walk on the treadmill for an hour at a time (it takes 30 min for it to kick in then you get results the last 30 min. Plus make sure you are getting at least 1000 calories net. So if you are burning 180 calories walking on the treadmill for an hour you need to eat 1180 calories for the day. And my all time favorite advice, log everything you eat and all your exercise on a tracking spot, like daily plate on the internet or lose it on iphone.

Thanks for all of your comments...I found a food diary this morning and printed it out and have started using today. I've been exercising more and hopefully upping that, my protein and keeping the journal I'll be able to lose more. Thanks again!
