What I didn't expect post op.

I am 2 days post op and my weight is up 2 pounds though I have been on clear liquids. I was getting concerned about it but then someone mentioned that it was from all the swelling. That sounds good and makes me feel better. I didn't want to go to the doc on tuesday after gaining weight. I hope it goes back down.

I also didn't expect to be in so much pain. Everyone I have talked to says it was not that painful. To be honest, I hurt. I thought I was doing well so I skipped my pain meds. That was a huge mistake. Now I am taking the pain meds and gas-x and am able to move so much easier. Just remember not to drive while taking these meds. I do feel much better with the pain meds so don't let the pain deter you.

Yeah pain meds are your friend the first day and 1/2... I was banded on a friday, took the lortab friday and part of saturday then switched to liquid tylenol til sunday. I was completely off pain meds by sunday afternoon.

The extra weight is from the iv fluids and swelling.. you'll lose it relatively quick. Shocked your dr's didn't tell you "don't weigh yourself" like mine did lol.. I didn't weigh myself at all until my post-op appointment yesterday, but funny I "knew" and had been saying.. I lost 42lbs.. I lost 42lbs and that's EXACTLY what I had lost.. amazing! lol

I hear you on the pain. Now it is the itching feeling from the stiches. I weighed myself yesterday and today. Yesterday I was 215 (which is about 2 lbs higher than just before surgery) but this morning I was 211. So I have lost a few lbs since surgery. Don't worry it will come off.

How are you feeling today?

banded 1/5 have NOT weighed my self since the procedure. I was VERY surprised on how painful the recovery was. I noticed the more I move the less pain I was in. I have no Pain now but was sent home the day after with a shot of demerol and sent home with liquid tylenol. I cannot lay flat.. and im confused if im hungry or if it's gas or unez stomach.

Hi! My surgery was yesterday so since we're so close on our surgery dates it would be fun and I'm sure beneficial to keep in touch with what each other is going through. I'm having more pain today, but only where my port is, other than that I'm doing great. Haven't had any gas pains, thank goodness! :) Take care!

Hi! I had my surgery on January 2 so I am right in the same group as most of you. I am down 5 lbs today. I am struggling with the carbs though. I would like to know what everyone is losing before the first fill. I kind of got the impression from my hospital faciliatator that you dont lose much before the first fill. Do you all think this is true?

I had my surgery on Jan 8 in Mexico and was totally afraid of being in pain so when the pharmasist asked me how many days of pain meds i wanted i said 20?... he only had 16 so i bought them all... they are not narcotics, just Supradol... which is similar I am told to Ibprofin... but it disolves under the tongue and is mint flavored... yum. I used it Saturday evening, Sunday and this morning and have not been in any pain so i decided to skip it and feel just fine.
