A few Days in

So here is am a few days after surgery. I had my surgery on the mroning of October 15th. Everything went well and as expected I suppose. There was a little bit more pain than I had expected...Iguess becasue everyone was always talking about what a simple procedure this is. And I guess it is compared to say a kidney repacement!! But they are still cutting into you!

I have 5 teeny tiny little incisions none of which seem ot bother me in the slightest except the one where the port is located...that one is really, really uncomfortable and very sore. They tell me that is normal. The others I hardly even notice. I took it easy the first couple of days and really started moving around my third day home. Still pretty sore, but no pain medicine on the third day!! I am sticking as closely to the liquid diet as possible but the surgery did not take away my desire for other foods so I am still struggling with that.

And what is the deal with this ungodly pain in my left shoulder?? Where in the world is that coming from???:wink2:

Hey there- I was banded on the 14th. My port site is the most painful too!!! The pain in your left shoulder is most likely from the gas they pump into you during surgery to make room to do the surgery. Take walks if you can- that should help, and Gas-x strips help a little as well. I am doing ok with the liquid diet now that i have gotten my protein shake routine down...it really helps. feel free to message me anytime!!! take good care of yourself and I will talk with you soon. : )

WELCOME to LBT!! The left shoulder is gas pain (the gas isn't there, but it's referred pain that goes to the nerve there). The walking you're doing will help your body to move the gas out (and no it's not in your colon, but your abdomen so your body has a hard time absorbing it and moving it out). You'll feel better each day! Best wishes! -BG

It is finally most of the way gone...it will come and go now and then but its gone for the most part! So you do have an end in sight!! I know it is horrible though...all that helped me was pain meds!!
