Where to start....like most people here I have been overweight for a long while.  I was always athletic growing up, but I constantly had to watch my diet.  I was never teeny tiny but not really overwegiht either.  I starting really gaining weight in my late 20's.  I dieted many times and lost some here and there but never with any real long term success.  It was easy for me to be in denial about my weight because I had no other health issues...my blood pressure, cholesterol etc were all perfectly fine...until about my late 30's. By then, I knew I was overweight and I was disgusted with how I looked but I was powerless...or so I believed.  I began researching weight loss surgery about 4 years ago.  My cousins wife had the Gastric Bypass and I knew right away it was not for me.  Way too invasive and too many side effects.  I just needed a tool.  So after much research I decided on the lapband.  I was covered by Aetna at the time.  So I started the process and I was denied.  Apparently I had not been fat enough for long enough.  Paying for it myself or financing it was just not an option.  So I had pretty much given up.  My health began to deteriate more over the next couple of years.  I started a new job and found out my insurance here covers it at 90% so I started the whole process over again.  The intro, the seminar, the pshych eval...all of it.  I was approved in just two days!  I was shocked!  So today is October 14th, 2009 and I have surgery tomorrow.  I am so nervous!  I think I am preapred for the change but how do you really know unltil you are in the middle of it?  I am going to try to keep up and blog often so I can look back and see how it was for me at the time and hopefully help others along the way.  Oh and I have been on only clear liquids for a week now and it has been horrible!!  I just had to say that!  I am looking forward to the surgery because atleast after that I can have full liquids!!  I will keep you all posted...wish me luck!!
