Days after surgery

I am having surgery on the 26th and can anyone tell me how I will feel the few days after surgery? Will I be well enough to get out and about? Thanks for any answer u may give....

I was very, very sore the first 5-6 days after surgery. It was hard to get up and down, and bending over was very painful. I had surgery on a Friday. I thought for sure I'd be able to be back at work the following Monday, because my friend was back to work that quick, but there was no way. I started working from home that Tuesday, so I could work, and still take my pain meds. I was ok enough to get out and about a little. It was a 3 hour drive home the following day, and right after they let me go after surgery I went and did some shopping. I didn't walk, but I managed to hang in there for about 45 mins. I didn't feel like doing much though the first few days. Everyone is different, and everyone will handle the pain differently. Some people get shoulder pain, I didn't get any of that. Most of my pain felt like muscle pain.

I think recovery time is different for everyone. I'd pretty much count on being down for at least 2-3 days. I had mine done on the Thursday before Easter and felt good enough to go to my mother's on Easter Sunday. I went back to work (I'm a 5th grade teacher) the following Thursday, so I took a week off. But I was extremely worn out by the end of the work day! I think you'll just need to play it by ear and don't plan anything major for at least a week after the surgery.

I had surgery today (wednesday) and am planning to return to work (physical therapist assistant) at a busy hospital...I am praying they left my patient case load light, but I am testing myself the monday before by taking my bulldog to the vet (read: very strong pitbull)...So hopefully I will not have to call out any...MY sister tried to go back to work (secretary type stuff) and couldnt handle it (that was 3rd day post op..) she ended up going home...It is hard to move right now and I keep getting these spasm type things in my chest and left side...good luck!

Hello! I just had surgery last Wednesday, June 10th. I laid around for a few days, but for the most part, I feel great!! I was back to work yesterday. I'm a little sore, but nothing I can't live with. I only took 1.5 percocets the whole time I was recovering. Good luck!

My surgery is June 23rd. I am still smoking and I like a little caffine. Has anyone smoked after lapband?
