Hello my name is Melanie,

I am seeking support from others for pre-bariatric sleeve surgery maybe in 2016 or 2017 latest? I reside in UK (Lincolnshire) and believe I fall under DERBY Hospitals NHS. My main problem is, I'm nervous abt surgery itself, I've never had ANY surgery in my life.
How long after to see results of weight-loss?
Any pain or discomfort?
Does it boost ur confidence to how u felt when u were a slim person?
Ladies could u have 1 baby after this surgery? Any issues with a pregnancy?

A bit abt me....

I am 37-yrs old and a former Athlete & Gymnast (and Trampolinist!!) I used to have a fantastic body.

Now days, I'm morbidly-obese (16-stone) so a UK-NHS Consultant has very kindly put me forward for a 'Bariatric-Sleeve surgery' in the future. It's important for me, to tell u how things went wrong for me. Firstly, my Obesity is NOT self-inflicted. Unfortunately, my lower Back/ Spine started giving me chronic pain when I was 25-yrs old and after I gave birth to my only child. Also, degenerative wear & tear (due to the high impact sport. In 2015, I counted 15 problems with my Back. These include:-

Facet joint disorder
Facet flavel hypertrophy
Fluid in lumbar facet joints
Degenerative disc disease (DDD)
Anterolisthesis
Severe Facet joint osteoarthritis
Lateral Recess Stenosis
Disc bulge
Central disc protrusion
Cervical foraminal stenosis (narrowing of the cervical disc space)
Spondylolisthesis
Disc bulge
Spinal stenosis

KNEE
Patellofemoral arthritis
Others
Seronegative Rheumatiod, pre-Diabetic, low Vit-D,

I am stuck in a vicious-circle, where I can no longer participate in sport or go jogging for the 6-miles per day I used to run. I have previously lost weight (3-4 stone) by road-running, but my running days are well & truly OVER. I am sad, I have battled and been a "yo-yo-er" for 12-years. Enough is enough I say, as my self-esteem has hit rock bottom.

Finally, I am on FB and also I have never been a dieter. Weak-willed but I sure made this up on the Athletics track!!!
