Hello, I'm 49 and here is my story: All I can say is I didn't hit the genetic lottery & been born to 2 sides of thin families. Both sides of my family range from 95lbs to over 400lbs. So all my life has been a struggle with weight. Between 2008 & 2009, I had lost a total of 130lbs at a weight of 226lbs & height 5'7". I was wore a size 14. Life was good I felt healthy energetic & motivated. I promised myself, I would not gain my weight back, but try to continue to lose more weight or at least maintain. WRONG..April of 2011 I had a mild stroke & since, I have gain weight & currently at 381lbs. I really HATE that number! No matter what I've tried, I can't seem to lose the weight on my own. I started having lower back, hip & leg problems. Finally, on 2/16/15 my back gave competely out & I could barely walk. My husband had to take me to emergancy. They kept me a few days & fixed me up somewhat, but I had to follow up with a PMR doctor. He took me off work for 6 weeks for rehab therapy. He told me the weight MUST come off or by this time next year, I would most likely be in a wheelchair. He recommeded William Beaumont Medical Weight Center for Bariatric Surgery. I went to the Seminar & was impressed. I signed up & after 3 months of visits with Weight Dr, Nutritionist, Pysch & Exercise Coach, they approved my Sleeve Surgery. Then I had my 1st consultation with my surgeon Dr Krause. He sent to my insurance all the paperwork. I was approved in a few days, set my surgery date for 07/14/15, had my last pre-op visit with my Weight Dr & attended the Sleeve pre-op instruction hour class & I have almost completed 1st week of pre-op 2 week diet. I have done a lot of research on this surgery & new life I am about to embark upon. I am EXCITED & a little nervous, but not as much as I CAN'T WAIT for July 14th to come. I just want to start getting my life, my health and my body in better shape to where I enjoy life again with my husband & our sweet little dog Mickey. Thank you for taking the time to read my story & any supportive, thoughtful message.
