I found out about this site from a friend who is a post RNY patient.  I am a post VSG patient.  This happened very fast for me. My sleep doctor and endocrinologist both suggested this, and I had my first visit with my surgeon, Dr. Earl Noyan, in August 2014.  I was sleeved on 12/16/2014.

What sold me on the surgery was the hope of reversing my Type 2 diabetes and eliminating the sleep apnea.  While the sleep apnea appears to have resolved already, I still require Levimir and Victoza every night.  I also have to take Novolog if my sugar runs over 150, which is still sometimes does.  The good news is that I do NOT take any pills for my diabetes anymore.  I'm disappointed that I still need the Levimir and Victoza, but I'm happy that my sugars are better than they were.

As of this writing, I am almost 1 month post surgery.  Highest weight was 260 lbs.  First appointment with the surgeon, my weight was 251 lbs.. Pre-surgery weight was 243 lbs. My weight first thing this morning was 220.8 lbs.

I am tall -- 5' 11" and have a very large frame, so I have set a goal weight of no lower than 175 lbs.  That will probably put me in a size 12 or so.

Today, I had my first bout of "the foamies".  What made that worse was the fact that I was not at home when it hit me.  I was at a Parish Christmas luncheon.  That chicken was simply way. too. dry.  I think if it had not been so overcooked, I'd have been okay.

I am of mixed heritage...my father was the king of sarcasm, and I try very hard to NOT be that way, especially in forums like this one because it doesn't translate well.  I may not always contribute to group posts if I don't feel I have anything of value to add, or if others have already answered the question. I am more of a "lurker".

I miss Chinese food and meaty sandwiches.  I do NOT miss pizza.  It was never a favorite of mine anyway.
