I have chosen Skinnydaddy (my alter ego) as my screen name but it is a good synopsis of why I decided and why I am here.I have always been over wieght. I could diet and loose 20# then put it back on in less than half the time. I've always felt most of it was genetic, I have the same body type as my father, his father, my uncles, brothers etc.....I had basically come to accept it as the way it is. Not that it hasn't bothered me, a lot and affected my self confidence and self esteem.

We'll it took me until I was almost 40 to find someone who could put up with me and got married. My wife is 5 years younger and one of the many things that attracted us to each other was that we were both older but had the dreams of still having a family. We were married and started to try and get our family going.

One year after we were married I was diagnosed with cancer and told my my oncologist that I should probaby put my plans for starting a family on hold until I knew I was going to be around. It was one of the most difficult times of our lives. Things could not have turned out better, I am 6 1/2 years cancer free now considered cured.

A year after my cancer surgery we got the okay and start our family again and today I am the proud father of two little boys 3 and almost 5 years old.

One of my biggest concerns has always been a about being healthy and around for a long time for my kids. Even though I am considered cured my mind goes to bad places when I have unexplained aches and pains. After the cancer I only have 1 kidney and reduced function on the other. If you were to look up high risk for acquiring diabetes in the dictionary you would see a picture of me.

Becoming diabetic is a great realistic concern for me.in April of 2014 there was an article in The New England Journal of Medicine about was and reversing or keeping people from ever getting diabetes.

I started my journey. After a lot of hoop jumping I had my surgery Dec 3rd, 2014 with Dr Chassion. My entire life I have always been the chubby kid, with what the doctor says I will loose in my mind that is skinny. So me and my support team we have become "Team Skinnydaddy. "
