About Me

  • Gender
    Female
Believe it or not when I was little girl I was so skinny my mom had trouble finding clothes to fit me. She often had to make alterations. I was always a picky eatter, that is until I went away to college. The cafeteria food was awful, so I resorted to fast food. Then me and room mates started learning how to cook. During that time I also went through an extremely traumatic event that threw me into a deep depression. I didn't care about anything, but food and drinking. As a result, I quickly went from about 130 lbs to nearly 200lbs. That was nearly 25 years ago. I did finally get the help I needed for the depression, but I was still left with all the weight. Then my knees began to go. I now have degenerative joint disease in both knees. I have had two surgeries on my right knee to help alleviate the pain. A full knee replacement is in my future but no doctor will do because I am too young. Out of all knee doctors I have seen, not one ever mentioned me losing weight. So I went with it. Until last April. I had run out of options for my knee and the doctor looked me in the eye and said get rid of the weight it will only help. I was now about 250lbs. Luckily for me, around this same time a co-worker had just been sleeved. When I ran into her in the break room she looked amazing. So I asked her what she did and she said she had been sleeved (one reason to be honest, you never know who you may be influencing for the better). And then my researched began. Since April 2014 I began going through the process to get pre-qualified with my insurance; even changing doctors once. i was not getting the warm and fuzzy feeling from the current doctor then my psychologist reminder me that this is an elective procedure and I can elect whomever I want to do it. Eye opening to me! So I did just that and elected someone else to do the surgery. Best decision ever! That was 9/17/14. I was sleeved, had my gallbladder removed (approximately 100 stones and one in the bile duct on its way to send me to the ER) and a hiatal hernia repair on 11/25/14. Post-op going well biggest issues is gas everywhere! Painful, but not one single regret yet!
