Hello,

This is my first time on a forum, but I felt that I needed to reach out for some support.

My decision to have the lap band came after I had my gall bladder removed in Feb 2014. During the removal of my gall bladder, the surgeon, thankfully, became concerned about the look of my liver, so he took a small piece of it and had it biopsied; result was cirrhosis of the liver. I was refered to a Gastroenterologist who ran several lab tests and informed me that I was in the beginning stages of cirrhosis, due to a fatty liver, and that I needed to get the weight off quickly; he suggested the lap band. Of course, this was just another diagnosis to medical history, that includes diabetes, high blood pressure, acide reflux, sleep anea, plantars faciitis and pain everywhere.

I contacted True Results to start the process and due to the cirrhosis diagnosis, they requested I get an endoscopy to check for a hiatal hernia and vericose veins in my esophagus, doppler ultrasound of my liver to check for hyper portal tension and addtional blood work. Due to the results of the ultrasound indicating I had "minor" hyper portal tension, True Results declined to do the procedure. I contacted my Gastro Dr. and he informed that there was no reason why I couldnt have the surgery and he refered me to Dr. Ganta at Austin Bariatrics.

I became a candidate on June 20, 2014 and I am scheduled for the lap band on August 26, 2014.
