I found BariatricPal with an online search for "Weight Loss Support Groups". I was post surgery Day 7 and looking for input, support, stories that would help explain what I had done to myself? I got WLS because I have diabetic retinopathy with loss of eyesight. To arrest this condition I need to control my type II diabetes and maintain a normal blood pressure. (I cannot support myself without my eyesight.)

I have wanted this surgery for years, but did not qualify, BMI was below 35! Seven years ago I loss over 50 pounds over a three year period which I enjoyed for 2 years before I gained it all back plus another 30 pounds! I needed this surgery (tool) to save my life. I am in my fifties and I want to be there for my future grandchildren. I want to include myself in pictures with them. I want to see them, chase them and dance with them!

My new life and future started on March 24th.
