banded 9/24/09..

Has anyone else experienced this problem? I was banded 9-24, having 1st fill next week. If i eat anything except puree foods, it gets stuck in my throat...scarey. I had thought it originally was maybe from surgery and my throat swollen, but it has now been almost a month. Last night tried a piece of haddock, the second i swallow it gets stuck in my throat, ended up throwing up. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Thanks for all of your information, you are all the best!

Janet, do you know if your doctor put a fill in your band during surgery? It sounds like you're too tight if you're having trouble with a pretty soft meat like fish at this stage. If you're getting hungry quickly between meals, it might be because you're still mostly eating soft foods because of your band tightness rather than a need for a fill. Be sure and let your doctor know about your trouble at your appointment.

To my knowledge i was not filled at all during surgery, the food gets stuck in my throat, not my stomach. It is right under my chin area that is the problem. Thanks for all of your help.

I was also banded on 9/24 - and today I had my first Red Zone scare. I was having pain and unable to swallow anything (even water). so my surgeon called me in immediately, and he withdrew .5ccs of saline.

When the band is washed prior to putting it in, it can hold some Fluid in it. I had 2ccs in me, and it was enough for the chicken i tried to eat to get stuck.

Almost instantly i felt better. Even though you have an appointment next week, call them and go in for an unfill immediately. Once whatever is stuck passes, you'll be back on track
