Thinking of Banding

Our new insurance effective Jan 1, will cover weight loss surgery. I want this surgery but I am scared. I have never been under anesthesia and that scares me the most. However, I realize I cannot live like this. I am 30, 100 lbs over weight, high bloodpressure, high cholesterol, borderline diabetic, and overall a non healthy person.

I have a wonderful family who will support me if I choose to do this and I hope you dont mind if I ask a few questions.

1)Did you have any complications from anesthesia?

2)How did you feel when you woke up?

3)How long were you in pain from the surgery?

4)Would you do it again?

5)Have you had any complications from the band?

Welcome NikiE..

1. I had no complications from anesthesia. I usually get really, really sick, but this was known ahead of time and taken care of by extra meds.

2. I felt absolutely fine when I woke up. Some people exerience gas pains, but I had none. I was up walking a couple of hours after surgery.

3. I had no pain to speak of. Just a little at the port site. The rest of the incisions were pain free.

4. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

5. I have had no complications from the band at all.

It was the best decision I ever made for myself and for my family. My health was being compromised by my weight and my family kinda wanted me to stick around for awhile longer.

My answers are 100% the same as Judy's.
