surgical support hose

Was anyone soposed to wear the surgical support hose after surgery? And did you? My release papers had instructions on them for me to wear the support hose for two weeks after surgery. I will have had my surgery 2 weeks ago this coming Monday. These hose are killing me. I am so ready to trash them!

I did not have to wear them, though I did have the compression stockings that I had to wear overnight in the hospital--they were HORRIBLE, and I ended up taking them off around 3:00 a.m. so I could sleep.

Still, your doctor has a reason for those orders, so you need to follow his instruction.

I had to wear them too, but only for a couple of days. However, I agree with gatorgal, it could be either your doctor is more cautious or he might have seen something that made him think you should wear them longer.

I guess I can survive for 2 more days...

I think that's best. If it was Friday, I would have said to call since they're so uncomfortable, but since it's the weekend, I would stick it a couple more days to be on the safe side too.
