10 days left and counting

I have 10 days left before Sept 2 surgery date and am 4 days into the pre-op medifast diet.

Its as close to vegan as I will ever get & I now understand why so many of them are miserable to be around! :o They are hungry, light-headed, their bodies are screaming for meat and misery loves company!

Sugar, not as real problem.

Starches, I can do 2 weeks without much problem

But, SWEET JESUS, do I want MEAT!!

It is so interesting how the doctors have different pre-op diets. I am having surgery on August 31st, and I have been on the pre-op diet since Monday. I eat a protein shake for breakfast, two cups of lettuce and 5 ounces of lean meat for lunch, a shake for snack, more lettuce and lean meat for supper, and another shake for snack. Veggies are strictly off limits except for salad. Weird, huh? When my sister had this surgery four years ago, she had to do a month of liquids only. I don't particularly like what I am eating, but I have lost nine pounds since Monday, though..... Hang in there, we can do this! Good luck!

I'm also scheduled for surgery on the 2nd. I started my pre-op diet yesterday. On mine I can have 2 soup meals daily (healthy choice etc) sugar free-fat free pudding or yogurt (only 2x a day) and the protein shakes. I tried the Muscle Milk lite, but what an aftertaste!!! Today I used the Wonder Slim which is like the Medifast and its so much better.. so far I'm not craving meat, but it's so hot here in NY that I could go for some ice cream!!!
