Also banded yesterday...another Question

Recommended Posts

I was banded early yesterday AM, over all I feel ok however Im fairly weak and the only pain I am having is where my port is. Is this normal?? Also has anyone tried Gas-X to help get rid of the excess gas in their tummy?? Im feeling really uncomfortable because of it, it hurts to sit up. I walked the mall today with my mother for over an hour, but I didnt feel any relief. Any ideas from anyone? Thanks so much!!

Hi there - yes your pain near the port area is normal. I am 8 days out and I do not have any pain in the port area but I can feel it sometimes when I sit in certain positions, I am wondering if that will ever go away. I had severely uncomfortable gas pains about 3-4 days out and I called to see if I could take anything.. I was told no and to just walk as much as I can. I went for a big walk and didn't feel any relief that day but the next day it was gone. I've heard it can take 3-5 days for that gas pain to go away. My pain was the same as yours.. all in my tummy and it was uncomfortable to sit, stand, walk or do anything. Laying down was the only relief I got and that didn't get me anywhere. Good luck to you... I hope you can get rid of that pressure.

I was given a precription for infant anti-gas when I got my lapband. I use Gas-X chewables all the time. The best thing is walking. I am getting ready to switch to Gax-X gels, but I am 6 months out now.

Not all that gas is IN your tummy. They pump your abdomen full of carbon dioxide to create a little more room in which to work. That has to be absorbed by your body and excreted. Walking as much as possible and a heating pad over your shoulder when it hurts there. Don't put the heating pad over your incisions unless your doc okays that!

One friend's doctor recommended that she not sit in a regular chair for the first few days. instead, she was supposed to sit in a rocking chair and rock. Extra movement.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
