Starving..HELP!

I was banded 07/30. I am on the mushie stage and have felt great! Recovery was nice and easy. I am supposed to drink 2 ounces of Protein shake every hour and have 3 mushie meals a day...2 ounces each. It has been great up to this point but today I am STARVING! Why the sudden change? I ate Breakfast 2 hours ago and am keeping up on the Protein Shake..I am also drinking my Water. I am not supposed to snack in between meals but the protein shake is not doing it for me this morning.

Any ideas on why this is happening or what I can do?

No reason to starve on the mushy phase! Eat something hearty for lunch. Don't overdo it on the calories every meal, but why not have some mashed potatoes with cheese and use non-fat Greek yogurt as sour cream? Or, have some refried Beans with cheddar cheese melted in -- yum! Or, get some turkey chili and blend it up until it's smooth.

There are lots of filling things you can eat during this phase. No reason to feel like you are starving! Hang in there -- you can do it! :wink2:

There are several reasons for your increased appetite - further out from surgery and just plain feeling better, as well as swelling decreasing.

My doc allowed me to have Protein Snacks between meals in this phase. If you continue to be hungry talk with their office to get some suggestions.

It gets easier. I know I still have days that are good food days and bad food days. It comes with time and starting to fell better. Good luck to you.
