Need Help! Moved Post

I feel so disgusted with myself. For the past two weeks I have been struggling with my food consumption. I find myself nibbling when I am not even hungry. I have also consumed fried foods on more than one occasion. In addition, I have been eating hot fudge sundaes from McDonalds. I am off work for the summer. Therefore, I contribute some of my behaviors to boredom. I know what I am doing is wrong but I can not seem to stop.I am actually rarely hungry. However, I just keep eating. I have gained 3lbs and was able to drop 1lb since Monday. I have only had one fill so far. It seems like I did better before my fill. I knew this was going to happen. Whenever I get this far in any diet program I sabatog myself. Does anyone have any ideas for getting back on track? Should I try liquids for a week to get things going again?

I also have the summers off and find it hard to not snack when I get bored. It is a bad habit and you have to make sure you are asking yourself why you are putting the food in your mouth - are you really hungry or just bored? If bored - walk away - I know it is hard!!

DON'T GO TO MCDONALDS! Problem solved!

Make sure you are eating solid foods that will make you feel full - not slider foods. I fall into that habit easily - the foods are easy to eat and I know that they will go down. Write down everything that you eat for meals and Snacks for a few days - that is always a shocker, how quickly those little bites of this and that add up to major calories!

I try to head outside and do something away from the house (kitchen) when I find myself drifting in there out of boredom. Are you exercising? This could be a good distraction from the boredom snacking - head out for a walk or bike ride.

I know how hard this can be. I have hit a plateau for the past three months and I just want to give up sometimes, but I know that I would have never lost the weight I have already lost and I would have started gaining weight without my band. Be thankful that you have lost and keep your goal in sight.

This is not a diet, but a lifestyle change that you have to make. Try to use the tool you have been given to help you make the change. I think that is the hardest part - changing the bad habits we have acquired over our lifetimes!

I hope this helped - I tend to ramble, so hope it made sense. Good luck and stick with it!

Dear T,

I seem to be recommending this to everyone; I heard about it on this website's Chat. Anyway, go to www.5daypouchtest.com and it will get you back on track. Lots of good info and a definite 5-day plan. Also, you can print off anything you need for free. Good luck, I've done the same thing only my goof-up was Taco Bell Mexican Pizza; fought the same 4 lbs for a month :frown:. Turns out my band was too loose, so I got a fill on Tuesday. However, the 5-Day thingie really helped get me in gear. You can do this!!
